    There's a bike shop on Seven Sisters Road which is pretty good. Not far from Whadcoat Road? Otherwise there's one at the top of Crouch Hill I think and one off the Holloway Road, Cycle Surgery.

    Two Wheels Good is probably the nearest (beside Oddbins on the way up Crouch Hill from the Broadway), but unless you're a real bike nut I'd go elsewhere - as I've said on an old thread here I think they're a bit patronising with anyone who just has a humble bike for, like, getting places.

    I know I should support local businesses and everything but for buying stuff I always use Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative , even for buying bikes (they deliver for £10 I think). For repairs I've yet to settle on anywhere I like so would be interested in others' experiences.

    There's also a place on Mountgrove Rd on the Finsbury Park/Highbury border. I haven't been in, but it looks like it reconstitutes old bikes and I imagine it does repairs too.

    I've been to Finsbury Park Cycles on Seven Sisters Road a couple of times for repairs/MOT type stuff - they are good, quick and helpful. And not fiendishly expensive.

    For repairs I've used Finsbury Park Cycles on Seven Sisters. It's an ordinary family bike shop, not yellow jersey stuff. If I was buying a bike rather than spares or repair, I think I would use one of the two bike shops on Holloway Road. More choice, better quality.

    I love the guys in Finsbury Cycles. They are really nice, really good, cheap and treat people well. None of this looking down the nose at people like me with our cheapo commuting bikes. Covered in plastic flowers.

    Yep, Finsbury park Cycles are great for repairs/maintenance etc. If you want to have an experience that makes you feel worthless and stupid with your bog standard commuter bike, but with a hankering to become the next victim to the new trend of 'fixie' restored bikes, then try Sargent and Co. on Mountgrove Rd.

    Towards the top end of Brick Lane on Sundays you can get bikes for about £50 that certainly do not come with a receipt or guarantee.

    @Benny - many years ago when I was very poor and had had my bike nicked I took that option. Got a bike for ten pounds. To be fair it did get me home that morning but it fell apart next time I went out on it. No doubt a more astute buyer could do better.

    I've just got a bike this morning by putting up on facebook that I wanted one - a mate of mine replied she wanted to get shut of hers and before I knew it I was cycling up Crouch Hill on a smashing bike and actually knowing where it'd come from rather than being off the back of a lorry. So it's worth putting the word out there if you're on fbook.

    Also went into 2wheels good to get my tyres pumped up - they're definately not into anyone without a serious cycling shirt on, but have to admit he pumped my tyres up for nowt and fixed my new bike light on so shouldn't grumble too much.

    Also, Two Wheel Good close on Sundays so they can go and ride their bikes (fair enough if you're running your biz as a hobby) which has led to me using Halfords on Stoke Newington High St. more often than not as Saturday is riding day - Sunday is fixing day, everyone knows that!

    I've not used him, but there's a guy with a little bike fix hut at the Green Lane pumping station. Prices look ok and I did once find his site online with a mobile number. If I remember correctly, site said not open Sundays but he definitely was when I went past for a beer on the reservoir.
