Jamboree facing Closure - consultation until 17th June

I have received the following fro m tte Friends of SG School and thought I should share it. It takes 5 minutes to send an e-mail on this so please do it NOW to Jen.Johnson@haringey.gov.uk It is really sad to hear that Haringey is now threatening to close Jamboree Play Hut in Finsbury Park and Tree tops after school provision at Stroud Green School as part of its cost cutting programme. Jamboree in particular is an invaluable play & support resource for local families with young children, run by fantastic staff, very welcoming to all families from a range of diverse backgrounds and very inclusive. It is sad to hear that this is the latest service to face the chop, particularly as it is used by so many families for what must be very small over heads ( 2 members of staff). The Play Hut has been open for many years and its closure will be such a waste of a fantastic space within Finsbury Park. In addition , Jamboree worked with Transition Finsbury Park (part of Transition Towns environmental movement) and received a grant last year from Capital growth to create 8 large planters full of fruits and veg free for families to grow and harvest, again this resource will be wasted if the Play Hut is closed The council has asked for feedback from parents/objectors so they are basically asking : ‘please tell us your views on the proposal to close the Treetops and Jamboree provisions from October 2011’ ( Tree tops is subsidised and after school care that Jamboree staff run at Stroud Green). The consultation is open until 17th June. Please send the council your views so the Council reconsider this decision The main contact is: Jen Johnson, Project Officer, 3rdFloor, 48 Station Road, Wood Green, N22 7TY Jen.Johnson@haringey.gov.uk
