Yes, comic illustrator and inventor of bonkers machines, William Heath Robinson was born in Stroud Green. Yippee! Surely a man after our own hearts. Stroud Green's finest ever son?
He was born at 25 Ennis Road on 31st May 1872.
This is another gem from Hornsey Historical Society. Apparently it was mentioned in passing by the guy who's written a book on the area, and passed on by doug and taff bach. Thanks guys. I've looked up the reference and it checks out, the address is mentioned in the first page of a biography available on Amazon.
A few mad ideas spring to mind.
Stroud Green's first Blue Plaque?
A Heath Robinson machine in the playground of Stroud Green School?
Or one at the crossroads near Tesco?
31st May to be declared Heath Robinson Day?
"You Are Now Entering Stroud Green, Birthplace of W. Heath Robinson"?
Oh joy. For those who've never enjoyed a Heath Robinson cartoon (I used to love them as a kid) look him up on Wikipedia.

Or how about the Faltering Fullback - they're pretty imaginative?
This definitely requires some kind of recognition.
