Lorne Road - terrible smell

It was there in the summer and went but there is again a terrible bad stink in the few houses outside our flats. My family came today for a meal and were gutted with the stench and want me to go back to N6! The council are not answering the phone and we is worried it will be worse and worse. I'm actually moving soon so it not a long term worry but I can't help thinkin there is a a fault with the sewage system or something horrible is rotting around there. Any ideas?

Update: council are sending round rat catchers and hygiene van tomorrow . May need to dig up part of sewer. I am away now on a course but my landlady Joyce is dealing and is on here if you need more info

Good news . The stink has gone and it apparently was decaying "natural matter" according to the man who investigated. Perth Road apparently has it worse and the stink vos of the blockage will get worse there. Anyway ring Jo at the council if it does or talk to Joyce Bradey in Lorne.

Well the sun comes out and the unfortunate stink returns - year after year. I have rung the council people, but don't hold your breath (but do hold your nose). Wonder if it is rats again? Chang

Finally a van arrives from the council to investigate - on a Sunday morning with pipes and pumps. Noisy. Hope they sort it - it's gonna be a scorcher and last thing we need on this street is more smells in hot weather. Chang
