I have been offered a stall at the Vintage Festival up in Northants. I'd love to do it but it involves camping and I've never camped before so don't have the kit. If anyone has a tent and accessories that I could rent, borrow or buy I'd be most grateful.
I'd need to pick up before Thurs 12th July and everything will be returned on Tuesday 17th July. Everything will be well looked after as Detritus was virtually raised in a tent (army/scoutmaster dad) and has a vast amount of experience of trekking about in the wilds.
I'm sure all the campers will know what's needed but I'm told we're looking for:
Cooking equipment - some kind of cooker.
Folding table & chairs
Any other useful stuff.
If anyone can help that would be splendid. Really happy to give a deposit to ensure safe return if we borrow or to pay a rental cost.
Hi AnnieI've got one you can HAVE! Used once last Summer and has been cluttering up my flat ever since. It's a four man tent and comes with 2 double inflatable mattresses and sleeping bags. It's a cheap halfords affair but does the job...It did reduce me to tears in a field in the South Downs trying to put it up but if Detrius is a dab hand at these things you should have no bother...Misscara has other stuff you could borrow like folding chairs and stuff. Whatever you do don't borrow her foot pump for the inflatable beds (unless you particularly want to spend 5 hours in the rain blowing up a mattress with your mouth until 4 am).I love camping me x
cheap halfords affair
Oh my, that's amazing! Thank you so much - it's perfect.
I am excited and slightly terrified about my first camping experience but Detritus assures me that all will be well...we will see. If we have a South Downs experience I'll be on the first train home!
I'll speak to you about collection, thanks everso x
Slight problem - I've just remembered my ex has one of the inflatable beds and I have a vague memory that we lost the stopper for the other one.I'm sure someone could loan you one (Misscara and Mrs C have camping gear), but the tent and sleeping bags are fine...yours to keep x
It's easy to get a new stopper so no problem there. Fabulous!
And don't forget that exercise regime demonstrated so memorably by Barbara Windsor. And advice from Dr Soaper :"tent up first, bunk up later" . Chang
