George Padmore Institute Open Day, this Thursday 2nd May

edited April 2013 in Local discussion
We will be holding an Open Day at the George Padmore Institute on Stroud Green Road this Thursday, 2nd May. A visit to the institute is an excellent opportunity to learn about Black British history - we house a unique archive recording the experiences of the black community of Caribbean, African and Asian descent in Britain and Europe. It represents over 40 years of black activism in the UK as well as housing an extensive publishing archive tied to our sister organisation, the New Beacon Bookshop. We also run an extensive outreach programme including seminars, public events, and projects in local schools. Our Open Day will introduce you to historic documents, photos, rare audio recordings, exhibitions and a tour of the archives. There is no need to book an appointment, simply drop in between 10.30am and 3.30pm on Thursday 2nd May, the George Padmore Institute, 76 Stroud Green Road, Finsbury Park, London, N4 3EN. Phone: 020 7272 8915. We hope to see you there!
