After all those years of living here I only noticed this on the weekend. Some of the houses on Moray Rd near the church have individual names. I cant remember what the names are. Does anyone know why that is?
You see these quite a lot on Victorian houses, I had always thought it was the surname of the person who bought the first house/paid for it to be built..... but I may be wrong on that.

You can see them in either the windows above the door or enscribed in the stonework above the door.
There are loads all over the place when you start looking for them, often in original stained glass panels above front doors.
Parts of East London are rife with them.
yes Misscara the end near the Andover estate. Well remembered with the names. Houses with names are much cooler than boring old numbers.

Now I have noticed them Annie I am sure I will keep seeing house names now

There is a street off Highbury barn with lots of interesting names and a few odd ones in Almington Street and immediate areas.
In Japan Cres, there is Japan House but it does not look very oriental.
