Single Speed cycles

edited April 2008 in General chat
I've built myself a Single Speed from loads of bike bits found and bought off eBay - just wanted some advice/tips/help from anyone else who's into cycling...

    Ooh, where to start...

Is it a single speed specific frame c/w chain tensioning bolts on the rear wheel lugs? If not, have you got a chain tensioner? If not, get one. It might just save your life.

Too busy right now to go off on one but if you have any more questions feel free to post 'em up here.

I'm into cycling, but I'm pretty sure I can't give advice to someone who is capable of building their own bike. I suspect it ought to be the other way round.

I love this forum. People seem to know stuff about almost everything! We should so get a mention in the Ofcom Public Service Broadcasting Review which is on about people getting news and info via the internet rather than off the telly these days. A few other local-type sites get a mention: [King's Cross Local Environment](http://www.kingscrossenvironment.com/) [The Brookmans Park Newsletter](http://www.brookmans.com/index.php) [Brixton Urban 75](http://www.urban75.com/) Frankly, I think SG.org knock spots off them all.

@geoff - not yesterday, but I was in there a week ago. Have previously been to the one in Stoke Newington but this was first time in Crouch End. Nice people, good repair work but they did try to persuade me that I should get hand-built wheels. Sounds a bit high-end for my simple commute.
