Hi Im Kelly-Marie and i would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Hairstylist/Colourist in the Area...

I have just joined the very talented team at Chaps and Dames and can not believe my luck to find a funky salon that not only offers classic mens haircuts..but is now also offering a boutique style experience for ladies too!...

sorry..im new to this,we do need a website!which will be up soon :)...(there i go selling again! and adding exclamation points! :P lol)...but i am honestly here to get feed back from the local community so we can make the salon a place you all would love to come to..so any ideas would be welcomed.

Hello kelly. I normally get my hair cut at chaps, so I think this gets a pass (cue much tssking from Tosscat). How's the whole art/retail/hair/beauty thing working out in there?

Hi Andy..lol..its still in the idea's stage but so far the feed back we are getting is positive which is great,From next week i'll be in the salon advertising and taking haircut and colour appointments everyday apart from thursday and fridays so will see how it goes from there :)..We're also going to be looking for talented artists and owners of one-off vintage pieces from the local community who wish to display/sell there artwork in the store so lots of changes/exciting things will be happening at chaps and dames in the near future.

I've just been told off for advertising :( lol..but hey now im being asked so sure its ok. :)..As you may know there is already two very talented barbers in the salon who charge upto £25 for classic gents cuts,but i ll be specialising in ladies haircuts and colouring.
Ladies Haircut (includes shampoo and professional blowdry and finish)from £40

Colour ranges in price depending on desired service from £30 for a semi-permanent (All over colour)to -£120 for a whole head of highlights.

But if you manage to catch Paul (Owner of Chaps and Dames) sometime this week ask him nicely for a flyer, which will give a 1/3 off total service (valid if a colour and haircut are booked in together)valid for the next 2 weeks :)

i have nearly 5 years experience with-in the hairdressing industry and used to work at a independent salon in clapham for over 4 years which is where i was trained exceptonally well-even if i do say so myself :)..I have diploma's from a variety of lorea'l courses from creative colouring to specialist haircutting.I can not say any more to prove myself-unless you have anymore questions?..except for a invite of coming into the salon to see for yourself

Sounds cool, maybe you could offer SG.org users a special discount as you have managed to bag yourself some first class free advertising on here?! Are you still offering 50% on all stuff accepted for sale in your back room? How is the shop doing? Must admit I'm more a Stepping Out chazzer shopper, but I think your place is a great addition to SGR... Have to say, I think the 'Chaps' need to work on their smiles, be more friendly / welcoming. It's quite a quirky arrangement where customers have to walk through the salon to enter the shop...

I have indeed-i will def bring that point up to Paul who im sure will come up with some kind of arrangement and also lots more :)'s lol...Yeah the store is doing well we are still on the look out for high quality vintage items..in particular ladies accessories and pop art esp from the 50's.
We will know be hand-picking items and will start to specialise so as to get the best possible items in the store.If you have some items to bring in?or particular pieces you would like to start seeing more of in the store your feed back would be great..

glad you put your prices on here - grist to the mill to my dp (c. 1998 again) that the £85 my hairdresser charges for base colour, foil highlights and a cut is actually a very good deal.

I think C & D is a really nice place to go to instead of, soul-free, cold pimped up places. C& D feels more real. Its relaxed, dynamic and stylish without trying too much. I went in there last week. I think Ibumped into the new hair stylist. You seemed really nice Kelly ;-) I made a great bargain an one off piece from the boutique in the back. Cannot wait to snoop around again after pay day!

I visited C&D for my inaugural Stroud Green haircut* last weekend - it being the first place I found that was open on a Sunday afternoon - and I have to say I thought it was alright.

Not half as pretentious or pricey as I was expecting having read this thread (although still a little of both...)

I popped into C&D a couple of months ago and told the bloke there that I wanted my hair blow dried curly. He said he couldn't do it as he didn't have the right brush! I thought this was really stupid and got my hair curled somewhere else. Shame as I'm all for supporting local enterprise. Have you got a full set of brushes?
