Yep - we just had our bathroom done by David, who did a great job. I'll whisper you his number.

Don't you dare employ him in the next fortnight though, as he's still finishing my bathroom!

Thanks. I will give him a tinkle.

I know a really, really good plasterer who is also a qualified electrician. I think he does kitchens and bathrooms as well. His name is Mariusz - a Polish guy, and extremely hard-working. He is also very, very cheap! When we moved here in January, we used him to do painting and decorating and about a million odd jobs and he was brilliant.
    His number is 07515 821 491.
Feel free to say Donna recommended him as he said anyone we recommended would get some sort of discount- I think he's trying to grow his business through word of mouth.
On another note, I definitely wouldn't recommend a company called Urban Solutions. They replaced a neighbour's bathroom and the shower leaked into our kitchen below and it took them two months to fix it, and they had to come back 5 times! :-(
Anyone else know that FLanders and Swan song - When the Gas Man Cometh?

Thanks Donna. I'll give him a call. Roughly how much does he charge for a day's work?

Not sure... but his quote was about 20% cheaper than the other two we got and he seemed happy to do almost any odd job you can name for about a tenner.

We've used Mariusz (and his team) to refit our bathroom, decorate our living room, refurbish our kitchen, replace our fuse box and wire up our utility room. He's a great guy, committed to doing a great job, and with the highest integrity. I recommend him too!

Does Mariusz still come recommended? No-one's kitchen/bathroom fell apart since these posts?!

Anyone else recommend a good kitchen fitter / electrician?

    Thanks!

Does anyone know if Mariusz has changed his number? We tried calling 07515 821491 but it was "unavailable".

    Is builder/plasterer/electrician a bit like model/actress/whatever?

    For work that isn't too specialised, I've found 0800 Handyman to be great - 0800 426 396

Picking up on the old Electrician thread did anybody track down Mariusz or indeed have any up-to-date recomendations. I need some ceiling lights changed and a new bathroom light fitting (perhaps some plastering involved too) - also looking into changing uplighters to spots - but fear this kind of job might be a logistical nightmare - anybody done this?

    Thanks!

Try Andy at Hodgkin Interiors. They did something similar for us in taking out old large ceiling spots and replacing them with Halogen. They had to fill in the holes from the old ones and put in a special one to go in the shower area etc. You would not know the old lights had ever been there Excellent job and reasonable Phone 0208 432 6670 or 07852 363836 or andt@hodgkininteriors.co.uk

Picking up on jamber's original question, yes Mariusz and his phone number have been tracked down, in a different thread only a few days ago. I think if you open up any three threads on this site you'll find one of them to be about Mariusz's phone number. Failing that, a search.

Jamber, We went away for 4 days and left them to it. They are not a problem in the honesty front. I guess tehet just nmeed to know the rules on locking up etc so they don't make a mistake on leaving. They did a fanstastic job for us with a good level of detail on the finnish etc.

Howdy, I have been looking for an electrician too and found this thread, attempted to search in other threads for Mariusz's phone number but cannot find it.

Would anyone be willing to provide it please?

    Many thanks..

@guin the number given twice above is the one I used to contact Mariusz a few months ago. He does seem to use more than one phone and I never got his other number, but just try the 07515 one, you should (eventually) get him.

Thank you for clearing that up! Much obliged.
