Oooh didn't realise that, will have to go into Home and check their I♥N4 section.
Are they the ones Andy/David were going to produce or has Home done their own?
Andy was a bit upset Home had usurped us how they did, I however laughed my ass off at the piss poor quality and execution. For a design-conscious shop, I would have thought the makers would have been more aware of proportion and fonts. Shocking. Please don't think we made them.
As for our ones, they may still happen. But we have day jobs and such and getting round to things happen as they do.
I haven't come and said it to your face Mr HomeShop because I wasn't talking to you. Some of our members thought that attempt at an Iheart product was ours. I was talking to them. It's not a cheap attack on your business. I've bought many nice things from your shop and will in the future. The Iheart bag hanging in the window however is crap. We even had a picture for you to follow on the site for the last two years.
To add some value to what you see as a cheap attack allow me to elaborate on why I don't like that bag:
- A quick google will tell you that the widely available American Typewriter Medium is probably the closest font to what Milton Glaser originally used for the NY version. It's not exact but its a respectable acknowledgement of the logo's origins.
- You seem to have used Cooper Black instead. You know, that font EasyJet use. And then randomly stretched it 150%, even Stelios didn't think that would work.
- The heart shape of the original is a well balanced plump shape and pointed at the bottom. Yours resembles a blob with a dip in the top.
- Five minutes in Illustrator would have got you pretty close to the original, either you don't have that ability or you ordered them from some rubbish place with no aesthetic values and a limited library of fonts. This would explain the EasyJet thing.
I'd probably not think any of this if you were Shop4Less but you're not. That attempt isn't even worthy of X-IT. In a way I'm highlighting that most your output is good but unfortunately that bag isn't.
Our idea. In that, when someone came into your shop and asked you where you got the idea from, you said this forum.
I would have liked to have done them together with you, but ho hum.
I've no intention of coming in and introducing myself, Mr HomeShop. You sound like you want to smack me in the face, I can't see what else would be achieved.
I do genuinely think that font use is shocking for a design-conscious outlet. I wasn't being a snob about it and have tried to elaborate on why I think that. We'll just have to disagree on the bag.
While I agree that the " I heart X" isn't a new idea, most of the areas that have taken inspiration from the original NY logo have gone with the actual name as opposed to the postal code such as "I heart Hackney/Brixton".
I've seen "I heart N1" but these are for some sort of media/design agency. NY and N4 are kind of similar and that is why if you get the fonts and shapes right you have a nice fit with the original. The first and only place I saw them was on this site.
Quality and detail is key, you want it to look like the original NY logo - that is the point after all! It's nothing against your shop, you have loads of good stuff there, but the N4 does not look quite right.
Andy and David....you have a bunch of people wanting it - how about finally getting that order in for the merchandise?
What about 'I heart SG' bits and bobs? There are some bits of N4 I wouldn't bury a scabby, dead dog in. I may crack out photoshop and have a go. Anybody know the cmyk values?
Poor Mr Home. I hope he's ok.
Hang on. What about 'Home is where the heart is' merchandise?...
I don't like Crouch End. It's full of mums proudly displaying their babies, as though there's something worthy about getting knocked up, and the pubs are rubbish.

I dont like this snobbery that you give out over what is a good bag.
As i say again david.Come into my shop and introduce yourself
The "I Love Heart" which is everywhere isnt your idea.
Aiming for quality is fine.I just dont like the way he came across on his first post.
Whats with his "SHOCKING" description.
Yes i do feel there is a sence of snobbery.
I would of liked to have done them with you to andy.
