Has any one been to the furniture store on sg rd besides paks i bought a bed for £250 and it was delivered for free and my old bed was removed for free. i was amazed the same bed and company by dreams in green lanes was £749, what a rip off,and the variety in this store you would not imagine and the prices an absolute bargain. i would definetely recommend to friends and family,its very useful to people who can not assemble flat pack furniture,these people do it for free....thumbs up......
what do you think? has any one else been there?

Is this the Furniture2Go place? If so, I seriously dislike this place. The stuff they put out on the street is ridiculously expensive, to the point where whatever poor quality wardrobe or chest of drawers they've got out is at least half the price new from Argos. It really does annoy me seeing an absolutely rubbish £40 coffee table, because some poor sucker will actually spend that money not knowing any better.

I guess these shops are used by crap landlords buying furniture for rental places, aren't they? They don't have to live with it. Maybe they can talk down the prices. Who else would really buy something like that?

I have found treasure in the shop on Seven Sisters Rd at the bootom of Hornsey Rd - I think it's called MIND? They used to have a shop on SGR. If you go all the way to the back they have a right old mixture of furniture in there and they will deliver locally. They are very bargainous prices and I've seen such wonders as 1950's cocktail cabinets for just £30 english pounds!Also a great selection of china, glass and 'knick knack's.

Aladdins cave, off Hornsey Rd by Sunnyside Park is good but I'm not sure if they deliver.

The best stuff I've bought has come from the lady who has a random stall selling house clearance stuff beside Paul bakery in Hampstead. Can't remember if she is there on Saturday, Sunday,or both,but her stuff is fantastic and uber cheap.

If the MIND shop on Seven Sisters Road is the same guy that used to be next to Sparks on Stroud Green Road, don't be fooled into thinking they are a real charity shop. They only give about five per cent to MIND and keep the rest but they still get away with using the logo. Good range of stuff though.

I've occasionally bought basic things from the place at the bottom of Crouch Hill opposite the Dairy and they have alwasy been helpful, negotiable on price and free local delivery.

actionverb..... may be you need to go inside and check out furniture 2 go i have bought fitted wardrobes from them over a year ago and the quality of their furniture is 100% better than the rubbish you buy from argos and ikea.These robes are factory built and are much stronger and come with 2 years guarantee and the shop only sells new stuff.

These people come and do the fitting in your home free of charge,and take full responsibility not like argos or ikea, have you ever seen the returns coming back from customers returning goods or ever had the experince of putting up flat pack furniture and then the crap not coming together and the frustration to sort out the mess.

so to avoid the big boys i would rather support the local business and deal directly and have less hassle.(so may be you should go and check out the big store behind the small doors)

May i suggest you go inside and check out their quality and variety and also glance through their extensive range of furniture in their catalogues, and then give your remarks and decide argos,ikea or furniture 2 go....

come on people support your local stores and don"t diss them with negative remarks...give them a try....

The shop mentioned by krs has a lovely shopfront, though I've always found the items uninspiring. Junk n Disorderly towards the Park Rd swimming pool is worth a look, though pricey.

I agree that the tone seems too earnest to be simply local well-wishers. I've been in to F2G and think the quality is poor. I have bought from aladdins cave and the big one opposite the old dairy (name escapes me) and have been pleased with the price and service, although the stock can be patchy.

Wow, that's some of the worst shilling I've seen since... well, since Medi. I'm not in the market for new furniture just now, but if I were, I'd choose one of "the big boys" over a third-rate local shop that treats potential customers like complete idiots.

Ooh secondhand furniture, my specialist subject. I've bought some really great stuff from Aladdin's Cave, Junk & Disorderly and the other one that's a few doors down. There's a good junk/furniture shop on Holloway Road, slightly towards the Highbury Corner end (can't remember the name) - they sometimes have some real treasure and can deliver, but quite pricey. There's also a lovely (very) little shop on Mountgrove Road, but again a bit too expensive. Further afield, the one in Stokey in the yard behind the Daniel Defoe pub is always worth a look, (alas, it's N16 prices). I also like the shop on Blackstock Road, but their furniture is too mid-century for me. Always been disappointed with the one opposite the Dairy. I will stop now. Has anyone ever been to Hornsey Auctions? That's next, as is the woman in Hampstead (@miss annie thanks!)

I sometimes go to Criterion, but it's a bit hit and miss. However I did once bag a rather splendid pair of mounted Alaska moose antlers/horns for £60!
