Anyone tested their soil acidity?

Wanted to grow some Rhododendrons but found they only like acid soil. Has anyone tested their soil ph round here?

Yes, it’s really alkaline. Camellias, Azaleas,Rhododendrons none of them do very well. Little ones in pots do ok with acid compost.

I thought Rhododendrons (sp?) had different coloured flowers depending on whether it was acid or alkaline soil?

I think that's hydrangeas - pink for acid. blue for alkaline?

That's Hydrangeas. I did notice a large Rhododendron in Woodstock/Enis/Perth Road recently. Not sure if potted or otherwise isolated but it caught my eye. Reason for asking is that I noticed them in abundance at two locations in Scotland recently, but it doesn't sound like a natural habitat around here without ongoing attention.

Whoops, yes must be hydrangeas. One day I'll have a garden and I'll actually learn the names of different plants. I'm much better at recognising vegetables.
