I'm with Ali. I get irritated when there are no street signs. Not the over-used traffic signage, just ones that tell you what road you're on. I'm a bit of a luddite/anti-sat-nav kinda guy. There was a article on the news endorsing my theory that people are losing the ability to navigate without sat-navs. I've always maintained that they're for people who don't know where they're going.
Official opening time is 7am on Wed 15th.
Looking at it now, it's going to be far smaller than the Tesco and with a much narrower (and therefore pricier) range, especially for normal groceries as opposed to ready meals, chilled wines etc. So the two shops won't really be in direct competition.
Stapleton is looking good on the insdie as well. I like the green paneling they have put in the back bit where the fire is.
Only problem it doesn't have any decent beer again for the 4th time I have had to walk out as there is no real ale Mad a pub without beer !
They have an Abbott pump, but it has been turned around every time I've been in. Abbott is a real ale, though their business practices are disapproved of by some CAMRA militants.
Maybe Bernard Butler, Aiden Gillen and the man who played Dr. Legg (if they're still around and living) will cut the ribbon on Wednesday. As Misscara said, Woodys was and Tescos still is badly managed (although I've noticed a slight improvement lately) but it needs some competition. Even if I can get some decent veg, milk and a few other essentials at reasonable prices it will be a welcome addition. Also, I may not have to queue for ages at 7pm (like in Tesco and even sometimes at the Convenience Store, esp. when people are buying 20 lottery cards) for this basic requirements and walk through flooded aisles. Plus a free cashpoint that is not always busy or out of order would be a plus.
@katiejane - if you get a Nectar card, bear in mind you can use it in LOADS of online shops, plus also Homebase and some other real life shops. I do not work for Sains (or Nectar).
