  ECOne on Exmouth Market are usually happy to scrub up my bling. They haven't charged me yet, but that may be because each time I've either been buying something else or getting a repair.
  
  If you want to DIY, soak it overnight in some neat vodka then give it a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush (to get under and around any set stones).

  Tiffany recommended keeping diamonds and silver on whilst washing up (without gloves). The Fairy liquid keeps them clean.

  Ha! @tosscat We call it a ha'penny - as in 'keep your hand on your ha'penny' And then thereare 'thrupennies' (threepenny bits) of course.

  Use lard it wont clean your ring but you will smell pleasantly of pork.
