    I went to a friends for dinner recently. All 8 of us had to send him mp3s of our 5 desert island discs, and he played them all in a random order. At which point we all had to try and guess who had suggested which track, and they explained why. It made for a surprisingly entertaining night.Cracking food too.

    As for Lush and other shoegazing tunes, I had Chelsea Girl by Ride on my longlist. But it didn't make the cut...

    Did that have 'Hypocrite' on it? Loved that song. Otherwise I was mainly a fan of the Britpop album with the hits and the Jarvis duet.

    I am aware there's no proper rock in there which I'm sometimes in the mood for. Perhaps I should slip in Hüsker Dü's Zen Arcade into one of the CD cases. No orchestral music as I just can't imagine the sound on a desert island.

    As a book I'd take some very difficult maths that would help me pass the years. Open to suggestions. However in that case I'd also need a good pocket calculator.

    Haven't heard it, probably just as well by the sound of it!
    Never mind tableturn, there are a lot of us fans of the original out there. The first time that I heard it, was when I was on holiday in Devon in the 70's. The DJ Alan (Fluff) Freeman, played it on his afternoon Radio 1 show. Now THERE was a DJ!! Happy Days.
