How rude! I have been (once - I don't do south) to Streatham. It was horrid. An acquaintance of mine lives there and calls it St. Reatham to make it sound more grand.
We lived in Stokey years ago. Now we live here.
Stoke Newington has crap transport links. Unless you work in the City and take the overground to Liverpool Street, you'll be spending 45-60 minutes each morning on a sweaty, overcrowded bus. I would rather spend 15 minutes on the tube to get into central London.
The students will discover the reality of living in Stokey the next time they're trying to get the night bus home at 2am on a Thursday. The 73 is supposed to run three or four times an hour. In reality, it's more like once or twice an hour. And if you're trying to get home from the Tottenham Court Road area, you might have to wait for several buses to go buy before you can get on one. Unless you can afford a cab home every time you go out, you're better off living in SG.
Also, we have fewer baby clothing shops. That has to be a good thing.
I'm just glad that I never occupied a pushchair or had a parent/carer who drank coffee and so can now authoritatively and without a shred of irony speak with disdain of people/twats with pushchairs.
I just had a shiver. This is so pre-Zeitgeisty it's not true...
I am from Stroudy. They are from Stroudy. We're going to Stroudy.
We're all Stroudies now.
When the OED come calling, ChangN4N6 at 1500 on 7th October 2011 is what we'll say...
