As we all know it's the Queens diamond jubilee this year anyone up for a street party?
I am a staunch monarchist so if you dont like the idea or it makes your republican bones twinge please dont post on this thread.
But a nice party maybe a few drinks and some games, bobbing for corgis and the like.
Anyone?
I know the WI are going to be doing something but the more people involved the better.
That is such a gay idea.
No, it's not.
So can I put you down for making some bunting then Chode?
Ha ha! I wouldn't even know what bunting was! Probably some kind of flaggy stringy thingy. I'd have a street party on the mall if all the Royals were strung up on the lamp posts. That would be worth celebrating.
@marquis - yes it is!
Well if seeing a number of children and OAP getting hung floats your boat...
It's a odd world.
A flag wavers ball! yaaaay!!! whoooo hooo!!!
This is a really good idea. Where is it going to be? What about Wray Cres or the school near there? Chang
Dont know, It is a once in a lifetime thing just like the olympics.
I dont know where or what permission is needed,
Do we have to close of a road?
Who do we talk to?
Cllr west I think. She us good and likes a good rave up. Chang
Yes, you'll need to get permission from the council. Spontaneous partying is not allowed. You might need to pay an extortionate fee for a licence unless you're a freemason. And don't forget when you tidy up afterwards, all your rubbish will need to be put in council binbags which they'll charge you £1.50 each for. Ordinary binbags will result in a fine. And you'll need to watch the noise levels, strictly no parking for visitors, no dogs shitting, and you must stop by 7pm. No alcohol allowed on the street either. And you can't fly the British flag, it's racist, but you can wave British flags that have a photo of the queen on them, that's different. Elitist Royal worship is strongly encouraged. The event may be recorded for your safety and security. No ball games, cycling or skateboarding.
No petting, diving or bombing.
No dogs? Children must be on a leash?
Am I still invited? :-)
Yes feel free, just don't upset Miss Annie she might be small but she is feisty and loves the Queen.
Ha ha. I wouldn't upset her. Or anyone else for that matter. Although when completely pissed, I may end up running down the street naked with a pair of union Jack boxer shorts on my head shouting "the queen's a lizard!"
It is free from the Council

Well how generous of them. How good of them to give people permission to use the streets that they live in, and in some cases own properties there. And for free! How honoured we are. I bet it was the queen's idea. I shall bow down with great humbleness, and be oh so grateful.
Grow up.
It's true though. It should be free anyway. They take a lot from us. They are "waiving street party fees and community charges", and touting it like they're doing us a huge favour. whoopee fucking doo.
I saw Her Majesty the Queen and The Duke Of Edinburgh on telly today. And even if you are a republican like myself, you have to say that Her Majesty and The Duke have done a good job for Great Britain. For example "The Duke of Edinburgh's scheme" for disadvantage kids. Also Her Majesty is elderly so people should have some respect.
This thread was started so that people who are keen on celebrating her glorious Majesty's Diamond Jubilee can enjoy themselves planning a buntingfest. I have started a new thread especially for those who don't. http://www.stroudgreen.org/discussion/3649/the-jubilee-bah-humbug
I'm not a republican. People putting labels on themselves and associating themselves with those labels are what causes a lot of the problems in the world. The queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are very naughty people, who take all your tax money.
Chode. Don't talk about Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh like that son. You are well out of order son.
You deserve a metaphorical smack in the mouth son.
Have some respect.
You have well and truly been conditioned.
Ask Mohammed Al Fayed what he thinks of them!
Chode. I hope you realise that Andy and David run this forum; and if they want to exclude you from this forum they can do. And they will do,rightly so if you cross the line.So have a look at Miss Annie's thread she has just started. And know that you will be banned from the forum if you break the rules;and you don't know what the rules are,so move on son.
I've said all I want to say anyway. Son.
Enjoy your Jubilee.
I will
