A neighbour of ours in Lorne Road is writing a monograph (wot that??!) on pubs of olden day Stroud Green up to Hornsey Road (one is now a mosque)Nobel (once a sofa showroom) Silver Bullit (mod hang out) and Ferme Park Arms (now a swingers club). If you can supply any true historical facts, pics, and indeed interesting gossip from 1740 to 2012 mike and me would like to hear it. Also ... My last flat was opposite there. It still is a squat, they've been trying to evict the squatters for years I have no idea why they can't get them out.

I think you're both thinking of The Devonshire Castle (located at the junction of Tollington Way and Axminster Road) and still has the sign hanging outside.<br><br>The Sussex Arms was converted into flats about ten years ago. <br>

I can. Nothing special, but 2 pals and I went there regularly in the 70's. One of them swore by the Guinness, which is perhaps why we were there, although there was nothing worth drinking for CAMRA fusspots like myself. PS, and, for the record: I am a reformed character in my old age, and hardly drink at all now - except for coffee, natch!
