• Good work. Must have taken ages!
• Hi Arkady,

I show tourists around and set the map up as a store for research.

Let me know if you have any good tips.

philHill

 • That sounds like a fun job. Let me know if you’re recruiting.

I can help fill a gap on your map: Sapori’s restaurant/café on Horseferry Road, Westminster. Great cheap and authentic Italian food with a bit of British café cuisine thrown in. Licensed too. Plenty of proper meals for around £6.
• Hi Arkady,

Many thanks. Sapori has been added to the map.

You are recruited.

All the best

philHill

 • Hi, one to be added in Greenwich area - La Salumeria - delicatessen and cafe, best places to go to avoid tourist crowds, all locals know it, its on 184 Trafalgar Road, SE10.
 • Hi Margolada,

added your suggestion La Salumeria to the map.

Thankyou.

philHill

 • Thanks for this Phil, it's a very impressive effort.

Libertea, Ajani's, Hamlet and Platform on the Hornsey road side all deserve to be added. Self-promotion, but I've written about them all here: www.thehornseyroad.blogspot.com - there's a search thingy on the blog.

And in central London this place is a find: http://www.gardenmuseum.org.uk/page/caf ; Best food cooked by someone called Sorrel I've ever eaten.

@Arkady, never tried Sapori - will do so. Do you know about the street market off Churton St next to the heavenly charity shop?

No, I don't know that side of Vauxhall Bridge Road well at all. I work on Horseferry Road, so my daytime roaming is limited to between Victoria St and VBR.
Noodle & Rice, 51 Lewisham Way, Se14 6PP: http://www.noodleandrice.co.uk/ Was at Goldsmiths University of London tonight, for their student opera (La Traviata, excellent, only £10, last night tomorrow), and popped into this really neat little hole-in-the-wall just opposite. Stylsh, very clean, lean modern decir, amazing food, excellent service, and very, very well-priced. The sort of place we need on SGR

 • Chelsea Kitchen: http://www.thechelseakitchen.co.uk/

I used to go to the one on King's Road when I worked that way. That one was brilliant - dinner with wine for under a tenner. The restaurant was small but the downstairs bit was nice. Not been to this new version, but the prices look comparable.
Hi Idoru, Chelsea Kitchen is listed now. My apologies for the delay in reponding. philHill Cheap Eats In London Google Map
 • I had the worst meal I have eaten in London the other day at a place called Josephines in Charlotte Street. It was like an in-flight meal that someone had found in a bin and reheated. It wasn't especially cheap, either.

 • Your map is brilliant! I've saved it to 'my places' and fully intend to use it. If I still worked on London Planner I'd most definitely include it in the magazine. Unfortunately it's not likely to be much use in Birdwatch.
• It was. I've worked my way around the restaurants in the area. My friend wanted to go there because it was always empty. He said he was struck by 'curiosity and pity'. We learned a hard lesson.
