Just received this from TfL:<div>...<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: -webkit-left; ">the Unite union has again called for industrial action by bus drivers and engineers. If this goes ahead, more than a third of bus services are expected to operate, but many routes across the bus network will be disrupted and some services will not run tomorrow, Thursday 5 July and early Friday 6 July. Night bus services are expected to run as normal tonight (Wednesday night / early Thursday morning).</span></div>
An alternative view (just an alternative view) is that if the bus companies are going to make lots of money during the games, this might be because the buses will be crammed full and a less pleasant customer experience than normal. So, in light of this much degraded service, this should be reflected in the price of fares for the period of the games. <div><br></div><div>Hahahaha<br><div><br></div></div><div>Justice and power are different things.</div><div><br></div>
Worse still - the buses will be crammed full of tourists. Who don't know where they're going, don't have the correct change and don't necessarily speak English. Yup, can see why the bus drivers might need to be paid more.... <br>
Does anyone travel on the 19 bus first thing in the morning? It's not possible to fit another living soul on the bus by the time it gets to Highbury Barn. The 25 out from Town to Stratford is even worse. They definitely won't be carrying more people.
Had the bus drivers got in first I may have supported their claims for the reasons Andy and Harpistic have outlined above. At least the extra people the Olympics will bring are going to have an effect on their working day, unlike the tube drivers...
