• You should call the cat Paddington
  •
My nominations for said cat are Lucas Radebe II, Elland, Norman Hunter and Tollington Tomcat

  •
Perfect its going to be called Radebe.

  •
Hi there. I am not on Upper Tollington Park at the moment, but it seems that because of the hot weather, the cat has been under the hedges between numbers 77 to 73, sleeping during the day. Beetroot is beautiful! :)

When are you thinking of getting her? I may be able to help! It is so great to hear this. It has been heartbreaking to watch her there.

  •
We can come around sometime tonight, I hate the fact that it is suffering, the things we dont have are cat stuff, litter tray, litter, food and toys.

I am guessing it will have fleas, was it taken to a vet?

This is a different cat to my original black and white cat, but I'm glad she's getting a loving home.

At this time of year she will almost certainly have fleas. Santas Pharmacy on Stroud Green Rd sell Frontline, a spot-on treatment that will kill any fleas or ticks she has and stop her from picking up any more.

  • Sorry if I'm the cause of the confusion @Detritus. The b&w cat my friend 'found' was hanging round the Mount View Rd reservoir. There is another b&w cat, on Upper Tollington Park, that @emine and @GeekyCatLover think is neglected or abandoned. This is the one you are going to adopt - no?

I was just making a suggestion about flea treatment, because you thought the UTP cat might have fleas.

  • Got it now, yes we will get the one from Tollington Park
  • Sorry, I hijacked this thread with the Upper Tollington Park cat which @GeekyCatLover has been feeding. Since this cat definitely sounds abandoned, I thought she would be the one for you. Hopefully the cat that @barebackreader';s friend found will find its owner. Otherwise you might end up with two black and white cats.
  • We are going to have a wonder up to there now, so if you see someone looking scruffy hanging about I am not casing the area.
  • Not this one?

  • No it's not that one, and please tell me that is not real?
  • well done for rescuing the cat! I have a litter tray and possibly some leftover litter - I was delighted when my cats finally learnt to go outside a few months ago - sadly now the warm weather is here I have realised there are drawbacks to this too, as in stinks when I open the window ... I'm in Corbyn St, other side of SGR. I'm a bit tied down with small children this evening but could drop it off some time tomorrow if that helps - let me know. PS is the badger poster for real ...?
  •
We've seen a cat that fits the description in the right place - outside 77 UTP. Detritus will try to post a photo to make sure but it's a small cat, mostly black with white belly, completely black front left leg, lots of white hairs through the black back of him. He's very sweet, if someone could let us know if that sounds like the right cat we'll pick him up tomorrow - don't want to catnap someone's beloved puss. I like Beetroot as a name.

@confornable kate

Thank you. We can collect from you, wouldn't dream of putting you to the trouble of coming here. We're just in Moray Rd so won't take us a moment to pop round whenever it suits. I'll send you a message with my number, just text me when you're free. Thanks again.

@Brodiej I've vetoed all Leeds related names! Especially 'Bite yer legs'.

  • Hi. The cat is quite small. One of the front legs is completely black and its face, although has some white fur, is mostly black. It is in very good condition and I think it is because we and some of the neighbours have all been feeding it. We leave dry food and water by the bins by the house that seems to be partially empty (I think it is 77) practically every morning. If that was the cat that was trying to get your attention, that is it.

We can give you some cat litter and some cat toys and I also think we may have some spare frontline (for flea treatment). We will be home at around 9:30 this evening or could meet tomorrow if that is the case.

  • It would be amazing if we could pick up any litter or frontline, thank you! Not having a new cat without fleaing it first. I make nice catnip mice so it will have something to play with. Catnip mice are the reward for any donated cat stuff...
  •
Just to let you all know we picked up Beetroot this afternoon, she had a wonder around ate some food then sat on both mine and Annie's knee and as I type is falling asleep on her knee, so not stressed at the moment, a nice temperament a nice cat.

And to the person who just threw this cat out on the street you are a scum sucking twat and I hope you get hit by a number of buses.

Thank you to all the SG.org people who have helped especially GeekyCatLover, Abbie and Conformable_Kate.

  • Beetroot is a winner! Thank you everyone, you've all been so very kind.
  • What a happy sg.org tale! miss annie and detritus, I hope Beetroot makes you very happy.
  • Beetroot is a fab name for a cat.
  • This is such great news! I have been worrying about that cat for a couple of weeks. Happy petting!
  • Huzzah for Beetroot! This is so heartwarming.

More good news - the original black and white cat has also been re-homed. It's been a good week for lost monochrome moggies.

  •
Perhaps we should call the cat Lola, L.O.L.A, Lola.

  • We can't believe it. We could swear Beetroot was a girl!
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  •
We let Beetroot out today for the first time, we were both stood at the top of the steps looking and feeling like parents watching a child on a bike without stabilisers.

Then he jumped over the wall and caused mild panic for a few moments until he came back.

But he is in his spot sleeping so all in all a good first foray into the garden.

We took Beetroot to the Vets today, she was chipped and the people who owned her before want her back, Miss A is in bits. There were no missing posters, the microchip people had not been informed, we want our cat back does anyone have any advice?
