if you are going from Finsbury Park to Highgate, it is on your right just before the Crouch End (Hill) station platforms. The new Ashmount School building is on your left.
There's a Stephen King story called Crouch End, apparently inspired by a walk he took along Parkland Walk when staying with a friend. He saw the Spriggan.
Oh I see, make it easier for cyclists to ride fast, keep the pedestrians on their toes a bit more!
I cycled the full length a few times last year, can't remember the surface causing any issues along the way?

Two years ago they did a lot of good work on draining and resurfacing the Walk. There was a big popular uprising then to prevent them tarmacing it over to create a 'cycle superhighway'. The Walk is for pedestrians AND children AND cyclists together, not just the Lycra brigade.
Surely the mix of foot and pedal traffic is part of what makes Parkland Walk a little bit special? Walkers: runners and cyclists cooperate on the whole. Just visit Regent's Canal one weekday morning between Broadway Market and the Islington Tunnel to experience how unpleasant it can be when different types of users act as if they have exclusive rights.
Which is to say, prevents cyclists making the most of it (ie being able to attain top speed). Which is to say that it enables pedestrians and wildlife to make much more use of it than they would some ghastly road-by-any-other-name.

The current track never stopped me from hitting top speed when I was a young 'un. Especially it being slightly downhill when going from Highgate towards Finsbury Park

My knee injury from jogging along there last year however has put me off ever running along it again.

Assomeone who has only recently began cycling again, it is quite shocking how bad the roads are nowadays. Almost tempted to upgrade to mountain bike tyres
I am a brand new cyclist and cycle to work via Hornsey Rd, full of potholes and cracks, and Liverpool Rd - also bad. I ride quite slowly but it still jolts my poor bike.
I would hate to see the Parkland Walk tarmaced, it's perfectly charming as it is.
