<font face="Arial, Verdana">The period in which interested parties can make representations to Haringey Council about the LiveNation application (to hold the Wireless Festival in the park in May) ends this Thursday. There are only 4 grounds on which objections can be made:</font><div><ul style="font-family: Arial, Verdana; line-height: normal;"><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">prevention of crime and disorder</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">protection of children from harm</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">public safety</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 10pt; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; line-height: 16px;">prevention of nuisance</span></li></ul><div><font face="arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif"><span style="line-height: 16px;"><br></span></font></div><div><font face="arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif"><span style="line-height: 16px;">LiveNation's application is here: </span></font><a href="http://www.haringey.gov.uk/index/business/licensing_regulations/licensing/licensing_representations/licensing_applications_under_consultation.htm" style="font-size: 10pt;">http://www.haringey.gov.uk/index/business/licensing_regulations/licensing/licensing_representations/licensing_applications_under_consultation.htm</a>.</div><div><span style="line-height: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Some more information on making representations is here: </span><a href="http://www.haringey.gov.uk/index/business/licensing_regulations/licensing/licensing_representations.htm#making" style="font-size: 10pt;">http://www.haringey.gov.uk/index/business/licensing_regulations/licensing/licensing_representations.htm#making</a> </div><div><font face="Arial">and here:</font><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif;"> </span><a href="http://www.haringey.gov.uk/variations_representations_and_appeals.pdf" style="font-size: 10pt;">http://www.haringey.gov.uk/variations_representations_and_appeals.pdf</a><span style="font-size: 10pt;">.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;">The form to make representations is here: </span><a href="http://www.haringey.gov.uk/licensing_representation_form.pdf" style="font-size: 10pt;">http://www.haringey.gov.uk/licensing_representation_form.pdf</a><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;"> (to fill it in online to return it by e-mail, I had to save it then use the 'sign' function in Acrobat).</span></div></div><div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;">So if you fancy some peace & quiet, please object!</span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 16px;"><br></span></div>

  • I do enjoy these gigs and think a few a year is a good thing for the area - makes it more attractive as entertainment centre. Yes, there is a bit of anti social behaviour but the bizzies do a good job in knocking out the druggies, genrally and smashing the drunks. The noise hardly hits anyone and most of these bands are famous ( bros, beady eye etc) so at least ppl can sing along and enjoy some well known tunes. On other places they have unknown bands, not as good. So give it a bit of a chance. But I agree 4 a month would be too many , specially if presumably they would not do it in the winter so it would mean a lot more the summer months. Chang
  • Chang what about all the drug dealers that come along that you dont like?
  • Unlikely for Bros? Chang
  • I know it's set by government and not the local council but I find it worrying that there are only four things we could make objections to. The simple fact that they're applying before the events proposal has been passed is annoying enough, let alone the size of the arena being much larger than the one in the proposal.
  • Wouldn't it be funny if angry local residents effectively closed the park car entrances by using bike locks on all the road access points in the dead of night. If they did this on the right day it might make it difficult fir the army of trucks trying to set up an event very difficult. The park would still be open for all its normal activities as it would still be accessible by foot This might be an effective way of showing protest against the council effectively steam roller ing residents interests It might also create some fun noise for the daily mail to pick up
  • It's going to happen. Money is evolved.
  • I am in Dion. I have 2 locks
  • the only downside that i can think of is that it would mean that the park workers and cafe workers wouldn't be able to park or get deliveries by van <div><br></div><div>not sure what the legal position would be - can't see that there would be criminal damage, i think they close the car gates each night anyway, so locking them wouldn't be hard</div><div><br></div><div>for the record, i am not condoning this sort of thing at all, definitely not in any way shape or form</div>
  • Surely they have bolt-cutters? Shame, as it is a lovely idea. Though even better would be finding the council types who pushed it through, binding and gagging them, and depositing them in the bass speakers/portaloo tanks ahead of the event. <div>(Note to GCHQ et al: this is a daydream, not a credible threat)</div>
  • I doubt they would have bolt cutters on day one. And that would be the day to get the media on site.
  • My only worry would be emergency services being unable to access the park. And you'd effectively being stopping a small business being able to trade. The concert has a license, the issue is with the council and councillors. ADGS's idea is good (disclaimer as above).
  • What if the cops dust that lock for prints Mabs? Am I gonna be implicated here? What kind of stretch am I looking at for such a crime?
  • Dont worry Chunky it looks as though it wont happen. It would be good if we could get a protest in the park for those who oppose how the council have managed this licencing application.

How about we all head to the park for an al fresco dump? I think it was Misscara who unwittingly planted this I idea in my head.

  • You might of regretted that Vetski. Due to alcohols effect on the cerebellum, coordination is significantly impaired. This makes urinating for some people very difficult.
