A paved 'piazza' is probably going to be more workable than a grassed 'green', given the footfall and desire for local shops to share the space. I do like the single oak tree idea. It could also be used by Miss Annie for her maypole hedonism.
@andy - A great idea. Probably more ‘if we win the council’ territory as I doubt that the current Labour Council would be willing to be so innovative and risk-taking, but I will keep it in mind.
Probably right.

Also, interesting how many of the things on this thread were more or less suggested by one of our local communists four years ago.

Mind you, my hometown has named its pro-breastfeeding initiative 'happy popping' and is talking about 'restyling' a medieval palace. Comparatively, 'piazza' is tickety-boo, if still a little infra-dig.
Hurrah for hedonism!
There was an article in the weekend Independent or Guardian about planting trees that you will never see mature. I like the idea of an oak.
What? I didn't call Canadians North American... It was simply easier to write that than cities in Canada and the USA. If you only got them in Canadian cities I would have said Canadian cities. If they only occured in the USA I'd say American cities.

Geez.
There are already a fair few of those affairs in the City and a couple in Clerkenwell. However, I shall try not to think of them as 'parklets' as the word makes me worry I'm about to be sick in my mouth. The one with Astroturf can fuck off, mind (see also the Astroturf with the Godfrey's cow statue down by John Jones, where there used to be some actual nature).
Next Stationers Park question - what's with the water levels? The waterfall is defunct, the ponds either side almost empty. Was it lowered to prevent risk of overflow during all the flooding, and (when) will it be returned to something more pond, less muddy puddle?
Paranoid, I can barely do a hyperlink, let alone run and manage a website. If you need some bookkeeping, or business advice, then I can help. Otherwise I just make the odd sht comment and rant on about zebra crossings and hark back to how much better the site used to be in the old days when it was a fun rather than rancid atmosphere imbued with bilious nonsense.
@arkady. I know i have mentioned this before. I was at arena shopping centre Saturday afternoon. There was no where to lock bikes outside homebase/sports direct except for homebase trolley park. I spoke to a few cyclists who agreed that I bike stands would be useful. There is lots of space too. Please please will you consider this.
