Sounds cool. I will take a look on Sunday. Kurdish events are always loud and colourful. <div>I cant wait for the bus event. Hopefully will pursuade my friends to dress up in fancy dress representing famous routemaster destinations!</div>
I don't know where they get their speakers from, but in recent years the bass from this event has carried further than any other event in the park. And I include the Stone Roses in that.
NorthNineteen - the actual moment of Newroz varies according to complicated calculations to do with the moment of equinox. This year in the UK it's around 5.00 on Thursday evening. But Friday would probably do just as well for good wishes - it's usually the 20th or 21st. <div><br></div><div>It's a fire and spring growth festival - but the park authorities are not so keen on the fire, especially since what's meant to happen is that young people leap over it. I've been occasionally when there has been a huge fire guarded by firemen, which is understandable but misses the point! Not sure what they do about that these days.</div>
The reason it's so loud is because they have it on the basketball courts, on high ground by the railway line, so there's nothing to stop the noise carrying. I can see the basketball courts from my back garden and the first year they had the festival and Ken Livingstone was speaking, it was as if he was in my living room. Shouting.
