  • Went to the Spa Fields Festival yesterday. Free in, good bands, a dog show and jumble sale - pretty much a London village fete, and all in Islington. And given I used to work around there, I'm fairly sure set-up would have taken no more than the Saturday as it never used to cause disruption during the week. Wish we could have something similar in FP, instead of the current spate of monstrosities.
  • Yes, given that all these huge festivals must be raising a lot of money by privatising the park and expelling local users on so many occasions, when are we going to see something in return?<br>
  • There was a fantastic two-day festival in Lloyd Park in Walthamstow over the summer: the Walthamstow Garden Party. Two music stages (Brand New Heavies were the Saturday headliners), food court with tapas, pizza, burgers, posh sausages, YumYum Thai and loads more, craft stalls, kids' activities, mechanics from Dr Bike, and loads more. All free, in a much smaller space than Finsbury Park, but the space was used really well. At no point was the park closed for set-up or take-down. It was jointly organised by the Barbican and Friends of Lloyd Park. If they can do it, I'm sure FP can, if the will is there.
