Alchohol license application in the name of 'Morrisons M Local' on the windows of the former chippy by Park Theatre. That gentrification thing is really coming together isn't it?
Object to the licensing on the grounds that street drinking and anti-social behaviour is a concern around the station, or if thinking big organise a similar protest against Morrisons as other areas have - I'm sure there's advice online how to be most effective in doing this!
But it isn't a problem. Also, there was a pub there for years, the Park Theatre is heaving with people drinking inside and out on the street and there are three shops already selling alcohol and drink related anti social behaviour is not a problem. The begging, busking and drug dealing is.
Is it just snobbery about Morrisons? No one seems to be moaning about Waitrose which will be selling drink inside the station mall.
My Cottage, an independent cafe has opened a few doors down and I would have thought that everyone would be falling over themselves to go in and support it. From the other thread, it looks like very few people have bothered. (You gave it a go Miss Annie.) It may be snobbery about Morrison's but it's probably just 'chain stores bad' in general, which is fine, to each his own.
The morrisons is taking up units 2-4 on wells terrace which is the convenience shop next to Starbucks and the chip shop. So will be pretty big! The unit next door is a seperate license application for a restaurant - I've forgotten the name but it was quite English sounding and not something I recognized as a chain.
Isn't it a good thing that investment is coming to the area? Another 'local' supermarket wouldn't necessarily be my first choice, but I'd rather that than run-down empty units.
There will be 465 Art Students living across the road.

Get one of the shops near to the Worlds End and turn it into a cheap eats student hangout !

You could do very well
These aren't empty units though, are they? That little shop is the only Fentiman's stockist in FP (as far as I know). The chip shop did pretty good chips. Both more use than another identikit minisupermarket.
