<p>Blast! I hope it reopens soon as I'm planning on popping in there on the way back from work for some dinner ingredients. Oh and I hope everyone's ok! NappyFox - I bet the sauce was about 3 quid? Well pricey in there!</p>
No no no no no.......@miss annie. The whole point is that in Italian Farmers the tomato sauce should be properly sourced, probably organic and perfectly safe to eat. All the food in there is (so they claim).<div><br></div><div>In most shops and supermarkets (even in Italy) the tinned tomatoes and tomato sauce is often just labelled 'produce of Italy' and you can't tell from where - so you never know if you're getting tomatoes grown in Campania or Calabria where the Camorra have been dumping toxic waste. (Gomorrah, remember?) </div><div><br></div><div>Some of my Italian friends refer darkly to 'certain well-known brands' of tinned tomatoes that they say you might want to avoid. >>>>Scary<<<<< (I've never bothered to find out which, life's too short, but just pointing this out......).</div><div><br></div><div>That's one reason the food in Italian Farmers is so expensive.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/the-home-of-olive-oil-and-mozzarella-is-still-the-mafias-toxic-waste-land">http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/the-home-of-olive-oil-and-mozzarella-is-still-the-mafias-toxic-waste-land</a><br></div>
News just in: it has just been confirmed to me that the Tesco fire happened 'out the back' and was caused by a faulty cable. I spend a lot of time down there obvs so I'm glad it was nothing too serious
