  • Coppers are effing useless when it comes to common sense. Wooden tops!
  • The parking wardens' smart-car is doing very well out of the parking restriction across Lenox road from the Sketch house site. On a nightly basis.
  • There is a bike shed on the edge of the park.  I have a folder so I tend to take it with me or leave it at home.  Should put some Boris bikes in too.
  • <div>Below are TfL's stats which show: </div><div><br></div><div>a) why they think the pavements have sufficient capacity</div><div>b) why they think that station entry will be tolerable (or at least no worse than when the spiral stairs were closed)</div><div><br></div><div><img src="http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae221/Redarkady/Stats.jpg" style="font-size: 10pt;"><br></div>
  • Thanks Arcady. Looks like they've only done static pedestrian modelling on the basic width of the pavement, missing the basic problems that (a) people will also be walking in the other direction, and (b) most people will walk in the cycle lane to get around slower walkers. They've also conveniently forgotten that people tend to get dropped off in groups of 50 by buses in the morning, rather than in a nice steady flow. Think they might end up with very different conclusions if they did it properly.
  • <div>Does that chart show that entry will go up by 1,000 people - from 200 to 1,200 with Wells Terrace closed. It seems to.</div><div><br></div>Is that other chart for one pavement or both sides?<div>Are they also working on the basis that people will use both pavements or just one. <div>Clearly, they will use the one nearest the station.</div></div><div><br></div><div>@duncan, you still have to pay for that covered bike shed, I think.</div>
  • @Papa L - in discussion with TfL, they told me that they expect that larger numbers of people will begin using the pavement on the eastern side as time goes on, but the majority will use the western side.
  • TfL seem to be the most optimistic in the world when it comes to situations like this.  Uh, we'll see.  <div><br></div><div>I hope they are right!</div>
  • @Arkady - thank you for the update. Very interesting modelling of flow of people. Do you really think people will cross the road to the West side
  • Thanks to Arkady for the amazing update.  He is very dedicated but I don't think he's prophet of the future, Sutent.  <div><br></div><div>My view is they will have to.  Different strategies will arise, and that's one of them.  </div><div><br></div><div>Sutent, you mentioned swinging down Fonthill road to get to the station.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm biking it as much as possible.  </div>
  • I hear there's a lot of swinging down Fonthill Rd

  • Another update. <br><br><font face="NJFont Book" size="2"><span style="font-size:11pt"><div><font color="#1F497D">I am writing to confirm a number of engagement activities that will be taking place at Finsbury Park Tube station on Thursday 16 April ahead of the closure of the Wells Terrace entrance Monday 20 April. </font></div> <div><font color="#1F497D" face="Calibri"> </font></div> <div><font color="#1F497D">On Thursday 16 April between 07:30 - 09:30 and 16:00 – 18:30 we will be holding a ‘Meet the Manager’ event at Finsbury Park Tube station. • So these events will increase congestion, meaning that comparatively, on the first day of the closure we will all think it's less congested! Ingenious. Fiendish, but ingenious.
  • @Kreuskav. From my end of “Tollington“ whenever I get the tube I will be swinging down Fonthill Rd. It is slightly longer but more quick. Time will tell if that is correct

  • I was thinking over the weekend to take some photos of the wells terrace exit and video the tunnel all the way down to the platform so I can look back fondly in my old age.. Will anyone else do this?
  • I wish only to forget it. I would quite like a glazed brick from the surviving bit of Victorian station wall behind the mango man.
  • When I were lad there were a proper tunnel ...
  • Pangloss is firmly in charge at TFL<div><br></div><div><br></div>
  • Danny (Mango Man) will be closing next week. I am told the 15th, though it might change. I would like to propose SG Org makes him a little thank you presentation. This is a serious suggestion though I don't know what to give him. In any case, at least, I'm looking around for a giant inflatable banana that Mrs K and I propose to sign and present to him - if we can find one. If anyone else wishes to add their names, it can doubtless be arranged. Does anyone know where to find a giant blow-up banana?
  • I will happily scribble on your banana.
  • why dont you buy him a plastic mango.? I went to a festival last year where some of the girls dressed up as Carmen Miranda. The pound shops on SSR have a huge variety of plastic fruit
  • Not dressing up as Carmen Miranda, Sutent. Sorry. I've ordered a plastic banana from eBay. Only photo op you will get.
  • I don't know whether or not I agree with that Hackney article, because amid all the clutter I can only read the opening paragraph. What hideous site design. Much like the FP developments, amirite?

I've often had to walk to station place due to Well's Terrace being closed because of problems (usually over-crowding) and it's not so good. I agree quantitative and qualitative studies should have been done (perhaps they have done this).  My feeling is even if they had been done it the powers that be (developers backed up by a scummy council) don't care.  The books are balanced.  Someone's palm has been greased. One week to go.  I hope it's not so bad but I fear...<div><br></div><div><br></div>
  • Having gone under the bridge yesterday, I am disappointed that Islingtonhas yet to do any improvements suggested - the lights have not been changed, bridge walls not cleaned (or pavements) let along artwork or sign to say the full width should be considered shared space for both pedestrians and cyclists. Only a few signs from TfL have been installed (need more). The gates are pretty much in place and of course signs within the station. Hopefully somone from Islington will be at the TfL meet on Thursday to answer why no improvements have been done yet? The
