Street N4 - new restaurant. Owner checking in!!

edited March 2015 in Local discussion
Hi all. I'm on here now to say hi and answer any questions you may have about what I'm doing at the new site on Clifton Terrace. I have had a nightmare of a time with red tape from the council and other bodies but the place is beginning to take shape now and should be open by April providing we have no major issues. This is my first personal venture and I have put everything into it. I have a background in pubs and also run the Hop & Berry in Islington. Please do not hesitate to ask anything. Tony

  • Thanks for joining Tony. How did the floor-laying go?<div><br></div><div>Looking forward to having a decent burger joint. And did you mention cocktails?</div>
  • Welcome Tony. Good luck with the business. What vegetarian options will you have? The cocktails sounds great.
  • Hello! It really is great to see independents investing in the area so well done! Red tape sounds a nightmare - no wonder it's so often just the chains that have the expertise to get through it.  Looking forward to trying it!  Is it called Street N4 then?<br><br>At the weekend I went to Mother Kelly's and I was musing how good the set-up there was with the fridges of beer along one wall - be great to see something similar!<br>
  • This is great news.   I'll be down for a glass of craft porter and a burger as soon as poss.
  • Cocktails...if you haven't already drawn up your cocktail list, Tony, can we make requests? Porn star martinis & raspberry daiquiris, please... :)
  • Can we have a cocktail called'Stroud Green'? Green, muddy, treacherous.
  • If there is service at a bar, can it have an express lane for those who don't want a cocktail, please?
  • Hahaha all great comments. I'll try to answer... The floor laying went to plan, when most hasn't!! Veggie options will include a great Burger/Dog/Burrito but menu hasn't been finalised yet. Cocktail list to be announced but will include some classics and some modern (raspberry Daquari sounds awesome btw). It's called 'Street N4' because of its influences taken from street food. We've added the N4 in case we want to do a second site in another location. I'm not sure about an express lane, we can't serve booze without food due to our licence anyway but we will of course try and bend over backwards to look after you all as quickly as possible. I will announce opening date soon, may even try and get you .org'ers all down for our launch party (I say party, I mean free fizz, snacks and chats one Thursday evening in about a months time). Tony
  • Excited for this party.
  • You had me at free fizz! All sounds really good, looking forward to you guys opening - it'll be much easier to get my friends up here with a place right by the station.
  • Hi Street N4 sounds amazing - have I missed it, where/when roughly is it set to open? We will definitely be visiting :)
  • His very first post says April and also says Clifton Terrace (if you are viewing on your phone you may not be able to see the first post - this is a known issue on the forum, if you look at the bottom of the page you can click on 'desktop site' which is a work around.<div><br></div><div>It's opening in one of the new units between Starbucks and Park Theatre.</div>
  • It sounds great. My express lane comment was down to the fact that a by-product of the cocktail fad is the extraordinary amount of time it can take to get a beer in some places.<div><br></div><div>I wish you the best of luck and look forward to visiting.</div>
  • @krappyrubsnif 'green, muddy, treacherous': brilliant, if perhaps not entirely kind to our noble members.<div><br></div><div>Creme de menthe, espresso (or I suppose it could be tia maria but I think the bottom of a coffee cup); but what for treacherous? Bitters? </div><div><br></div><div>It may not be delicious.</div>
  • Tequila is treacherous.
  • Please get in touch with me on tony@hopandberry.uk should you wish to come to our launch party on Thursday 9th April.
  • Emailed. I may not make the whole thing, because <a href="http://www.thegenerationofz.com/#!genz">zombies</a>.

Raspberry daiquiri ingredients: tequila, raspberry puree, coconut cream, lime juice. Happy to taste test for you until it's just right, @ajl2503!
  • Sold a print the other day to a nice chap called Remi who is about to open a cocktail bar on Wells Terrace...
  • I saw some of your prints in La Fabrica too! All these new restaurants must be good for business.<br>
  • Opens 17 April.<div><br></div><div>Who's managed to get a place at the launch party (now on the 16th)?</div>
  • Not aware of having sold to Fabrica..but am going in on Saturday, after the Park Theatre (keeping it local!) so will have a look..<div><br></div><div><br></div>
  • Who's going tomorrow?
  • Moi. Will we finally meet, after six years?

Sorry @tosscat, I did mean to come over and say hello to you and yours (and to complement you on your truly glorious moustache of which I'm terribly envious) but you skedaddled before I had the chance.<br><br>The place shows a lot of potential. Decent cocktail, funky décor, and they stock my favourite craft beer. They have a wall displaying local artists' work, which is a nice touch. <br><br>They were still waiting on a lot of their furniture and so had a temporary table arrangement, so hard to get a feel for how it will look once finished.<br><br>The food provide was delicious - I'm normally a salad dodger but really enjoyed the greenery provided, and the burger sliders were very tasty (and apparently the burgers on the menu will be sourced from an even better supplier). <br><br>They open to the public tonight at 18:00. I look forward to trying again it in a week or two once they have found their feet. <br>
