I am trying to take heart, and I am also trying to act on comments whilst still retaining the places identity as a cool new joint. But that is very difficult when the main instigators of negative comments and feedback haven't even been in to absorb the atmosphere or try the food! Which is, at the very least, frustrating.
I think the issue here is that when Krapy said he isn't opposed jam jars or graffiti or hipster ways of doing things he actually, like others that use this site, very much really are!! I think people are very what I would call the 'anti-dalstonisation' of the area and perhaps that's why this post has kept on going... and going, because this place is the first step of seeing if that way of doing things would work in this area and maybe that scares some?
I'm trying my very best to please everyone, and that is very hard... Whilst the people that do come see nothing that needs changing, those that do not want to see it brightly lit and cladded in half sanded nautical wooden boards like every cafe in crouch end, which is again, frustrating.
When I first saw my girlfriend, I thought she would be moody, shallow, fake and materialistic... I judged her by her looks.... but I gave her a chance, took her out and a year on I am very happy. I no longer look at things and judge them by their appearance, I mean who would look at Katie Price and see her as one of the most highly paid authors of our generation?
My point, ladies and gentlemen..... Come give it a go, you'll like it!! And you're contribution will go towards the paint job you so desperately crave.
Tony
Katie Price not the best comparison. She is not paid well because of her writing but because of the public profile she had, based on her looks and 'turbulent' life before paying the ghost writer.
On the books by covers stakes I'd go for David Walliams. He does actually write his books himself and they are extremely good. Would never have expected him to be such a successful kid's author. He'd have been published without the tv career.
I'd have offered to help you paint if I had spare time you know. I'm a supporter of indie businesses as any one who is being here for a while will know.
I get the feeling Krapy, trying to sell you a burger or a burrito will be like trying to sell a Yorkshireman Jellied Eels from a tray in an east end boozer.... But I will, and you'll love it.

No jellied eels will ever be as good as Tubby Isaacs's.

I got takeaway burritos and chicken burger tonight and it was great! We'll come back.

Went there for lunch on Sunday and had a great burrito. The little one loved the buttermilk fried chicken. Friendly service too.
Not sure how easy/costly it is to work with Deliveroo, but I bet this place would be a popular choice if they joined. I'd definitely up for a burrito delivery on a day like today...
I work as a chef and think I've got a pretty good idea of the difference between good and bad food. Food made with little effort, out of poor ingredients, by people who don't know what they're doing and care less. Corners cut, etc. There's plenty of it about.

That was not my experience of Street N4. I had a very good meal there on Saturday - chilli dog, burrito and cheese fries (between two). The food was tasty, well-made and attractively presented. Service was charming. We enjoyed it. Go.

(The beer could have been a little colder though...).

Ok so I will try and keep my cool here.
Comparing our chilli cheese burger to dog food...
Where do I start. We use very good salad, fresh daily. We use very good creamed brioche buns, sourced locally, fresh daily. We now use very good 8oz patties (granted when we started we didn't have a decent supplier, but hey, we are a start-up independent, getting things right takes time, but I'm dedicated to doing so. Burger game has been raised for those that weren't hugely impressed before), hand made & sourced from Godfreys across the road, and I've seen the quality of what they use... amazing standards, decent family business, been in the area for years... fresh daily. The mince for the chilli, again, fresh daily and sourced from the local trusted butchers literally across the road.
The recipe for the chilli, learnt from my days with the executive chef in the kitchens of capital pub co, a company that built its reputation on food and sold to green King for the measly sum of £68Million, but hey, what do those guys know?
When you pull apart everything I do, I can tell you exactly where we get every ingredient from, I use the very best I can, from as local as I can... I've put my life savings into this project and am currently living in a tiny box room house share to help fund it. Why would I stake my entire life and future of my baby in food that tastes anything nearly like pet food? I would not.
Dbopenlock, I remember you coming in, you looked like you wanted the place to fail, and it seems like you are doing your darnedest to help that happen by spreading almost slanderous nonsense. The fact that you have mentioned the price means you werent happy with what you paid, which in turn, simple phycology, means that you had a negative relationship with that food before you even put it in your mouth.
I don't do cheap, I am not a McDonalds or Burger King, if it's Pigeon foot and Donkey tooth burgers you want at £2 a pop, be my guest and go a cheap burger outlet. I can promise you this, their cows haven't spent their lives roaming around lush fields and been looked after by honest hard working farmers, their chickens haven't run around a coup playing and having a good life eating good corn. YouTube McDonalds chickens and cows... You might be surprised with what you find...
I sell good quality ethical food that has no place being put down online. I'm sorry I can't sell you a decent meal for a haypenny or half a crown... It's 2015, rents, ingredients, rates, licensing, paying staff more than minimum wage, bills all cost a lot.
I answer to other comments..
Thank you all for the positive feedback, we have actually seen a boost in sales and last week saw the first week of streets history in the black and out of the red. I'd estimate 98% repeat customers. So we must be doing something right!!
We will be working with Deliveroo very soon (next couple of weeks) those wondering, they take £2.50 delivery fee and 25% of the total you pay, which isn't great for us financially but it keeps things turning over and people busy if it's a big hit. Which I'd imagine it will be as there isn't much choice in our style of food via their service at the moment in the area.
Cold beer. Sadly due to running out of funds in the beginning I had to buy a second hand beer fridge which has been touchy to say the least (says me after the first few paragraphs). I will sort this soon by replacing the fridge (has been serviced today, much better now) and adding a couple of independent draught lines, which will run through a chiller and pour icey cold pints at better value than the cans we currently use due to lack of space.
Website is currently being done, should launch around the same time as the Deliveroo service.
Thank you all for your continued support, this post has actually had a very positive effect on the business and raised people curiosities enough for them to pop in and say hi.
Rememeber, Street burger & burrito was born in Finsbury Park. This site was the first, it is independent and free from greedy companies that dodge tax and fill your stomachs with food they lie about. Please continue to support us in our bid to remain here long term and in turn support other local business and fill you up on good food.
Tony
Good luck Tony.
I've been once and really want to come again but a bit difficult with a toddler. My girlfriend and I loved the food, I had a chilli dog and she had a beef burrito and we both thought the food was very good.
Hoping to come again soon. All the best!

It seems the original owners of this forum have let the

genuine feedback of a local business is 'crass hyperbole' I wonder if I

I posted my experience of Street Burger N4 on this forum as I have found
much of the information posted on SG.org re local
businesses/restaurants very helpful and wanted to add to these views in
order to be equally helpful to other forum users. I posted the other day and said that the
meal I had at Street Burger N4 was terrible. As the owner of Street Burger N4 has
replied to my post I feel it is only fair I reply to him here.

I visited Street Burger N4 for the first time the other day and ordered a
takeaway Chili Cheese Burger and Fries for £12.50. At this price I
believed I would receive a decent meal(I think this seems reasonable).
The staff member who took my order was very amiable, friendly and
helpful. The food IMHO was really bad. The burger was terrible. The fries
were so bad it is hard to know where to start. The only way I can
describe them is to say they were like toe nail clippings, horrible.

The owner of Street Burger N4 replied to my post and listed at length
the suppliers of his produce and has gone into some detail about how
great and fresh it is. I have no reason to disbelieve him so I can only
imagine that my meal was so terrible due to the chefs he uses in his
kitchen. I find it astonishing that in his long and detailed reply to my
post he hasn't once mentioned the quality of his chefs.

It would seem that most people on here(though not all) highly rate
Street Burger N4(including the current moderator, which is fine although
I think it would be preferable if he were to champion local people
first before local businesses).
I have only had a takeaway from them once and I have given my honest opinion on the food they served me that one time.
I've only had one takeaway too, after being (I hope constructively), critical of various things from outside. I made a decision about buying food from there based on the fact that the majority of people, some of whom I know to be very discerning in real life, thought it was good.
I will go back, it was great.
It would take a whole lot more than having a snipe at a local restaurant to be banned from this forum.
@dbopenlock Comparing the cuisine at that place (indeed any place) to dog food is crass. You did not offer constructive criticism as others have done - indeed you still haven't - you were rude and hyperbolic. You are entitled to do so too, so long as you don't get personal. But you may be called out on it. My 'championing of local people' doesn't have to stretch to quietly acquiescing to people being unpleasant. To the contrary.
Head chef - Max Grecu. Was responsible for El Patron in Putney, Mexican food specialist. A restaurant that now has 3 sites due to Max's success. I poached Max as he lives in Woodford and convinced him that the reduced commute would enhance his life. It has. I'm lucky to have him.
Second chef, recently introduced. Mikey Harvey. Was responsible for my pub kitchen in Islington, burger specialist. Has impressed people so much, I was able to amass the 150k needed to pay for this place in a very short period off the back of his food offer. No mean feat.
Third chef - MD Nazzruman. Responsible for Stonegate pub kitchens. And they were not happy about him leaving.
Kitchen porter - Gabrielle Savente. A down on his luck freshly imported Italian dude that didn't have a CV and just wanted an opportunity to prove himself. And he has done just that.
I'm not going to get into any sort of nonsense here, I only deal in quality.
Dog food and toe nail clippings.... No words, just none.
I love reading restaurant reviews and the sharper the better, but I must admit even l cringe at the 'dog food' jibe. I'd just like to reassure @ajl2503 that I'll definitely be in for a burger *and* a burrito as soon as I can make it down, jam jar cocktails and all!
