Just took away some burritos and the sweet potato skewers which were brilliant. Wahaca is my favourite place for mexican influenced food but this is a close second.
Interior looks a bit better with the white wall and tables upfront but the black ceiling does still make it a it feel closed in. The food and drink selection are superb - looking forward to going again, probably for a meal.
Hi Tony,<br>Please can you tell me a bit about your chicken - where is it from, how are they kept, etc? I'm a bit picky when it comes to chicken, not being much of a fan of factory farming. Thanks!<br>
All of our meat comes from Godfreys across the road. It is full tracable and if you'd like me to look deeper into it for you I have no problems in doing so. Hope this helps :-)
From Godfrey's website<br><br>"<span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12px;">We
take great care in selecting our produce only from farms where the
highest standards of animal welfare are practised and which rear their
birds in the traditional way-being free to roam and forage, fed on a
additive-free natural diet, and allowed time to mature to yield the most
moist, deliciously flavoured meats.<br>
<br>
Our range of birds and cuts offers you the choice from traditionally
superb tasting premium quality juicy Poultry to the more intensely
flavoured varieties. All our Poultry are reared to enjoy a contented
life that creates the richness of flavour and succulent texture that can
only be produced in this way."</span></span>
But seriously Tony can you tell us all a little about your burger buns? Are they brioche or the more traditional sesame seed-topped variety? Only kidding, I'll be down to try soon. TP
I had a chicken burger at lunch today. It was huge! I had ordered fries, which I barely ate as the burger was a meal in itself. The bun is a good size, but the piece of chicken extended out to the sides by some distance, and was pretty thick. The chicken was very good - a crispy, mildly-spiced crust enclosing very moist chicken. The bun was good, and I liked the onion relish. There was something on the burger that was very wet - it was dripping liquid onto the plate, and towards the end the bottom bun was sodden (the burger's, not mine). I did not LOVE it but chicken burgers aren't my thing - I tried this one because it sounded good. As chicken burgers go I think it was definitely a good example; all the elements were of high quality. As I said, the chicken itself, which should be the star of the show, absolutely was. Really good. <br>
<p>Halal is controversial and might put off as many as it may attract.</p><p><br></p><p>Tony, did you see your mention in ES magazine? Back page interview with an actress mentions your burritos! Go and ick up a copy at the station.</p>
ES magazine? I had no idea!! What even is ES magazine?
Sorry, no halal for us. We work strictly with the butcher across the road and they don't embrace. Besides, I've been asked once in 6 months for halal.. Bad business.
Thanks pigeon, your comments made me smile. We are working our nuts off trying to get it right here. Still a lot to do.
As far as free publicity is concerned. Next Feb will see us boost the whole area. Watch this space.
Came in this evening. I've decided the black ceiling is better once you are in. Had fun evening, good to see it busy - was a good chicken burger, caramelised onion was an excellent addition, I'd say chicken could have been marginally better, nice tang to the fried stuff (batter). Friend loved his veggie burrito. Wine was excellent. Very very value.<div><br></div><div>Will definitely be returning - especially once there is draft beer.</div><div><br></div><div>I had an ES magazine in my bag - should have left it with you.</div>
I went 2 days in a row to have a chicken burrito....it was fantastic both times. I can't wait to go back again. It is also great to see it quite busy and that the interior have been improved.<div>Well done Tony, it is so good to see someone doing well after a difficult start.</div><div>I will definitely get another burrito during the week, as i have clearly become addicted.</div><div>Thanks and keep it up! :-D</div>
<p>@Kreuzkav</p><p>What? There's nothing about property in it. It's fashion, food, London diary, bt of celebrity nonsense and interviews. No idea what you've been reading!</p>
