The October book group book will be **The Periodic Table by Primo Levi**.
In 2006 it was named by the Royal Institution as the [best science book ever](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_science_book_ever "best science book ever"). But it's mainly a (semi-fictional) memoir, 21 short stories, named after elements from the periodic table, based on Levi's life as a Jewish-Italian chemist before, during and after WWII, when he was arrested for his anti-Fascist views and held in a concentration camp.
We will meet at **8pm on 5th October in The White Lion** as they were wonderful hosts in September - they have even promised to throw in a free bottle of prosecco. Thanks @TheWhiteLionN4! Ask at the bar for the book group table, or look for us with the book on display.
New people are always welcome to come along; no pressure, no strings attached, no questions asked.
The book was recently dramatised on Radio 4 - if you don't get to read the book you could listen to these instead!: [http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07ksr39/episodes/downloads](http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07ksr39/episodes/downloads "http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07ksr39/episodes/downloads")
