  • I've tried to pull up the planning application for the Tesco on Hornsey Road, but I can't navigate the system. Does anyone here know how to do it? I want to see what they said about traffic and unloading deliveries. There are often large trucks parked on Hornsey Road just up from the shop, causing delays. The kerb is quite wide there. Tesco should pay for a lay-by for unloading.
  • Yup. I've been caught in tailbacks many times due to Tesco's mobile bottlenecks.
  • Finding the application is bloody hard, partly because Tesco is listed with the wrong address and postcode on Google maps. It's actually 291 & 293 Hornsey Road (not 350) - not sure about the postcode.

    The original planning application number for that development P112180. I don't see any reference to the movement of lorries, but I only gave it a cursory look. There are later applications from when Tesco had taken over the commercial premises - for bollards and for the illuminated sign - but I doubt they are relevant either. It was originally intended to be three separate shops I think.

    Might be one to raise with your councillors.

  • The new fish restaurant on SGR sounds good and looks amazing. Big improvement on the smelly Halal buthcers! Workmen also appeared to be clearing out number 43 which I think used to be used as store for Pataks.

    Is Superdrug the first national shop chain (not coffee or supermarket) to set up in Stroud Green?

    Out of interest, how far up into Islington do you get notifications? Is it just N4?
  • I get the notifications for all of Islington and Haringey. For the latter I report anything in Stroud Green ward south of Ridge Road. For the former I'm a bit more capricious, but basically anything east of Hornsey Road, north of the station and Andover - i.e. fair chunks of Finsbury Park, Tollington and Hillside wards. It's as tedious as it is interesting, but anything to keep you lot amused.

  • The planning application includes a mock up of the restaurant frontage and the name 'Hooked' with one of the o's looking like a fishing hook.

  • There seems to be a fish & chips delivery service by that name on Deliveroo. The application appears to show a photo of an existing branch, but I can't identify where that is.
