  Good spot (no pun intended).
  
  Have seen a spotted woodpecker only twice in my 5 years in SG, most recently in early October this year swooping between the trees alongside the railway behind Woodstock Rd.

  We get one, never seen a pair, about half a dozen times a year, mostly in early Spring. I hear them a lot more often but they are surprisingly hard to spot.

  A pair of them live in one of the Maple trees on The Grove. They can often be spotted in MPV and on my feeders where they favour the tallow option.

  Regular visitors in my garden are a greater spotted, a lesser spotted and a green. They seem to love whatever lives in the bark of my pear tree.
