SG market weekly newsletter

Hi everyone! it's my Summer resolution to be more consistent keeping all local folks in touch with the market and I thought of copying our newsletter here once a week from now on. I hate getting on people's nerves though so if any higher authority doesn't think it appropriate to "advertise" like this then just say. hopefully being a community thing it'll be generally thought to be interesting rather than obnoxious.

Here goes anyhow - and by the way this is the same as is published on the website (www.stroudgreenmarket.com/thisweek) and the same as you'll get in an email if you want to subscribe (you can do it from that same page).

Sunday 5th, 10-2:30, Stroud Green School

Dear everyone,

Did you notice the strawberries last week!? I don’t think they lasted very long. There’ll be more this time: so tasty that it’ll be worth staying in London over the bank holiday weekend just to try one.

It’s quite an exciting market week generally, with honey, kimchi, chocolate brownies and a few extra craft stalls all making a special attendance after their easter layoff.

One small business making their first ever market appearance on Sunday is known as the Koji Fermentaria. If you’ve come across Koji before it should be interesting to hear that Haruko cultivates her own in North London and is capable of preparing not only all of the classic koji products, but previously unheard-of recipes fresh from her vivid imagination. For those who haven’t heard of koji, suffice to say that it’s the age-old and extremely specialised culture central to the production of miso, soy sauce, saké and about a million other delicious Japanese foodie things. Mizue, Haruko’s partner in koji crime, is a professional chef and cookery teacher and will be selling delicious, freshly-made street food at the same stall.

I hope that’s enough to drag you out of bed early! If not then we look forward to seeing you later in the morning. Just don’t expect to find any strawberries…

Ed
