I’m curious as to how these prostitutes were identified. Unless they’re sporting a “For rent” placard, how does one identify a prostitute just visually these days? You can’t go by ankle bracelets or short skirts and fishnets any more. Even someone idling at a street corner might just be waiting for their Uber ride.
That happens everywhere and anywhere. I work in a large shop in central London and we recently found a bag of needles dumped on our shop floor. Anywhere there are homeless people you'll have the same issue. Also had (non homeless), mothers discarding their little darling's nappies on the shop floor, even though we have a baby changing area. People in general are grim.
Yeh, I can see the dealers laughing from a mile off. You need plain clothes to do hand to hand work or just have constant foot patrols, anything in the middle is a joke
Distraction techniques. If you can see some very obvious policing going on there is usually something more covert in the background. Like at a big demo or rowdy football crowd when the young fellas dressed in the normcore outfits materialise out of nowhere to take down the violent trouble makers.
Once walking in the park near that multi-sided bench/shelter thing some youths sat there shouted "what you want, officer?" as I approached... As a non-copper I was rather surprised! And I wasn't even wearing a The North Face jacket.
TBH, I think locking it up makes it worse because they have a little private area. Even if the police visited more often there are no shortage of places to hide. If it was well lit & people walked through it however…

But is it fixing anything?
They just don't have the resources to enforce it. (Or maybe even close the gates)
