I happen to know a bit about this. I've met several people who have been on the waiting list for years and years. Coincidentally I happen to know there are a number of people selfishly hogging more than one allotment (one person has five!) and there is perceived to be no proper management, no fair and proper system for allocating strips, no proper administration. The council washed it's hands of this year's ago. Anyone fancy making a fuss? Declaration of interest: I am not a gardener and have no interest in getting an allotment myself. But I know people who do. And I just think this smells bad.
