Just for fun, and as a distraction, i'm going to start another Stroud Green Quiz. Some light relief - how well do you know your neighbourhood? (Remember the great outdoors?) Nope but I used to live a little bit down the road so could see the commings and goings. It think it was a private club. The building itself is quite big and was convertd into flats.

Tried that without luck It was open around 1983 which is the year TCP/IP standards were adopted and 7 years before Tim Bernard Lee made the WWW sort of usueable.

Probaly the reason I cant find anything.

Was it within a building that was already primarily residential? It's hard to visualise which one it would have been in.

It is the building with the fancy steps behind the 20 MPH sign. It would have been interesting to have seen what the floor plan was like before it became flats

Too easy......yes, and more famous in its day than Crippen? I've found references to it all over the place including in a late PD James crime thriller and its in the law books, The Finsbury Park poisoner. The house is of course reputed to be haunted. I'll pull together a blog on it some day as I seem to have time on my hands for the next 3 weeks.

The Finsbury Park Poisoner — not a pleasing epithet. Surely, Tollington or Upper Holloway are more deserving toponyms in this case? Perhaps the title wouldn't sound as good with either of them. I wonder when this was coined.

I'll hazard a guess with Mount Pleasant Villas, the wall that runs down the side of the covered reservoir (It's the only such grit container I know of in the area, and it looks as if it's on a hill, sloping the right way.)
