  For future reference, I tried to get a table and chairs picked up using a man and van.
  
  What a totally miserable experience trying local guys and then an online bidding website.
  
  Ended up renting a van from H and H at Kentish Town and they were great.
  
  Zip vans are brilliant for a couple of hours rental but get crazy expensive after that, there's no monthly service fee any more either.

  Got a man, came on time (half an hour to spare), £40, job done - but it was touch and go, had to be done by 5.

  Jay Man with Van 07851 702169. The price suddenly went up to £60 at the very last minute because 'the sofa was larger than expected'. So be warned. My daughter paid it because she was saving more than £1,000 on the sofa, but it had to be done yesterday or she'd have lost it, so it was worth the extra £20, but it sounded a bit scummy to me.
