I spoke to Telford Homes about the raw concrete structures they have left at the end of Goodwin street and on Wells terrace. They said they don’t want to finish them and they have unilaterally decided they are a feature. I do like a bit of brutalism, but this is just shamelessly unfinished work. After making sure there was next to no affordable houses available, Telford Homes are trying to further milk money out of the development, in spite of the public interest.
If you have seen the structures and agree they’re damaging to the regeneration of the area, please consider writing to the local councillors here: https://www.writetothem.com/write
Exposed concrete is never a good idea in our climate. The Wells Terrace bits though - if they're the parts I'm thinking of I suspect they are designed to be hidden when the old station entrance building is redeveloped?
The Goodwin Street stuff - is that under the 'bridge' bit? It does feel rather unfinished. I can't be bothered to look at what it said about it in the planning application. It's a shame as the quality of the stone cladding is otherwise quite good, I'd say.
Hey Arkady, both on Wells Terrace and Goodwin street the unfinished parts are the columns. On Wells terrace they are in front of the Boulanjerie’s windows.
Noticed today a small sign that progress may be starting on the Marks and Spencer site with a couple of boxes with a company label attached inside the area.
Well there is a big puddle outside the Wells terrace exit. Looks dreadful full of litter and a disaster for people hurrying out of the tube. Poor design or blocked drain?
