  • I always use this. Allows you to zoom in, move around etc and choose what boundaries you want shown up.  Under the colours option you can turn the background map on to full colour rather than the default black and white... http://www.neighbourhood.s…
  • Interesting to see that, as came across this photo of the old coal bridge the other day and was trying to work out where it would have been - http://www.red-rf.com/images/212_RF453_WellsTerr1954_JHinsonColl.jpg

  • Slightly unrelated, but its appears that Islington and Hackney Councils did put in a joint bid for funding for Finsbury Park Town Centre from the Outer London Fund. Looks like the bid is for public realm improvements including a shop front improveme…
  • nope, definitely the Stroud Green Road Bridge - think it is the old branch line bridge and is where the gate into the Park / cycle park is now. At the start of the film there is a shot west along station place and you can see the Silver Bullet and t…

  • Tony's is great. Lovely people, fantastic quality meat and excellent value. Often think they are slightly hidden away where they are and would do better below the crossroads where there is much more footfall.
  • Hope its a proper fish and chip shop rather than another kebab type one. One like the Beach Hut at Highbury Barn would be great - that place is amazing.

  • Hi Ash - Looking forward to you opening too. Would love it if you also sold fresh, good quality flowers like the Greengrocers at Highbury Barn - there's nothing like that around here at all.
  • From my understanding of the Outer London Fund, the bids are predominantly council led and otherwise require council support. I think Haringey are submitting a bid focusing on the town centres – Tottenham Corridor, Wood Green / Green lanes, …
  • His book 'In England' is well worth investing in for the coffee table. Quite a few images of Finsbury Park at the front end.
  • I emailed Licensing on Monday about this very issue. No response yet. I also emailed the Noise people and the SNT earlier in the year about the same issue. I wouldnt bother with the Noise team again as they wanted to come round to measure noise …

  • I often think the police dont have a very visible presence around the area. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw them. oh apart from the 3 riot vans outside the N4 the other week! Often think Stroud Green Road would benefit from a local po…
  • I think someone from Paks posted on here a month or so ago? - something to do with the Finsbury Park Business Forum / Association.
  • Looks like this has finally been released. Pretty average reviews. Anyone seen it?
  • Anyone got any opinions on whether ‘Stroud Green: A History and Five Walks' is any good? Worth byuying?
  • Is there not a planning application in to turn it into a hotel, casino, bar complex? Maybe the completed student building next door will create more demand.
  • Agreed. The Planning Inspectorate ruled the application was fine - the council should just accept this and move on. Seems like a monumental waste of money dragging this through the courts at a time when they are cutting spending on important servi…
  • Sounds great. @Neil - Is your colleague planning to open her tea rooms on Stroud Green Road?! And if not please can you persuade her to do so?!
  • Would be good to get Boris Bikes. Dont think it would ever happen though - don't think the model would work for a big commuter station like FP. All the bikes would disappear by 7am and there never be enough docking stations to accomodate the bike…
  • Fascinating. It seems remarkable now how many 'firsts' Finsbury Park is responsible for. Someone previously mentioned that the first London Beatles concert was on SGR - but according to the 'Pooles Park Landmarks' page FP was also the first place …
  • Does anybody else find it ironic that 'Amy Cleaning' seems to have gone on a one person crusade to create a litter problem in FP /Stroud Green with her bright yellow leaflets?! They are over the streets literally everywhere. In my opinion, the cou…
  • Love your passion for this Arkady. I care and could be mobilised! The whole of SGR is a bit of an obstacle course, so sometimes hard to look up! I'd like the councils to spend some money tidying up the streets /pavements and getting rid of all the …
  • @ Arkady - thats an impressive transformation. But are there actually any buildings of that quality on SGR?
  • Sounds like a good idea. The sort of thing that Haringey could probably get funding for from Boris's Outer London Boroughs town centres pot -
  • A relative of the owner was quoted in the Islington Gazette a few months ago -
  • Point taken about farmers markets – there are a lot around already. Given the footfall on Stroud Green Road though – both from locals and people passing through on buses – there must be potential for something. Perhaps something which helps to buil…
  • Was the consensus that this isnt economically viable? Really fed up with supermarket bread... If we can't have a bakery, how do we go about setting up a Stroud Green Farmers Market to satisfy our posh bread, veg and burger needs? Reckon something …
  • I think its really ugly front on. The paint makes the building look pretty run down already. Will look awful in a few years. I actually quite like the building from the sides though - why cant people just build a simple brick building nowadays?? B…
  • Miss Penn opened recently on Blackstock Road. Recommended - will whip you up a bouquet of your choice on the sopt and open till 6.30. wish someone would a proper garden shop on SGR, would do well. Along with a nice organic fruit and veg place...

  • @mac31 - I am also hoping to lay a bit of lawn this weekend. Are you able to recommend where you got your turf from? Only need a few rolls, but everywhere online seems to only deal with bigger orders. Thanks

  • @Arkady - how does a judicial review work in this context? and on what ground are they progressing with it? - the student accomodation? this is so frustrating - such a massive oppertunity to improve the local area (aside from supporting a key local…
