If I see the lights change to red and know I have the space and time to filter to the front then I will, otherwise I hang back in the traffic, making sure I'm visible in the middle of the correct lane with no room for vehicles to try and overtake th…
Not sure what to comment on that! The last paragraph was interesting though"The Ashmount School site has been the subject of a bitter debate in recent years, with the council pushing to turn it into housing and residents insisting it should become a …
I guess I must be really unlucky with the fruit and veg shop. Whenever I go in everything always seems old and tired and limp and unappetizing. Conversely, Tesco's veggies always seem really fresh.
Maybe you're right Vetski, I just read the bit, “Almost every time I go in there I find several items that are out of date and either buy them or hand them in."All just seems rather bizarre to me.
I don't understand why this woman kept buying the stuff though. Either leave it on the shelf and move on or tell a member of staff but don't keep buying it then complain to the local rag.
Not sure why a Crouch End group would be interested, do they not have their own memorial? As @Detritus said, this is something we, the local community should be paying for.
There is, apparently, evidence that driver-less trains are safer. I have not seen this myself but it is plausible in my mind. So long as the implementations are checked and double-checked then in theory it should be true. (it would be quite horrific…
@Miss annie @checkski How long does Finsbury Park to St. Pauls take on the no. 4 on an average day? I've only ever used it when the tube is out and its taken ages, going by tube it usually takes no more than 30 minutes during rush hour, usually abou…
Would they not have gone hand in hand? The milk from the dairy being pasteurised and bottled at the Tesco site?
Interesting to see their spelling of pasteurized with a z rather than s. I guess some Americanisms really are just old fashioned English.…
And therein lies my major problem with politics in this country. In my experience, from what I have seen, heard and read Lynne Featherstone is a very good MP for her constituents. Despite this, because the party she belongs to is now in Government sh…
I'm actually of the opinion that cycles lanes as we have them are more dangerous than nothing at all.Advanced stops lines are great but the narrow strip of green along the side of the road just encourages people to ride in the gutter and gives cycli…
It always amazes me when I see cyclists undertaking moving vehicles. I only ever go down the inside of vehicles when they are stationary and I am confident of getting in front of them before they start to move.
@timgallagher Or, Haringey is utterly broke due to inept financial management from council officials. I think the truth probably lies somewhere in between, albeit a little more the Council's fault and a little less the LibCons.Sadly in my experience…
From the application I see they are not planning to make many physical changes, keeping the existing entrances and "bar furniture". Should make a quirky little shop
Helmets only help if you're going slow? Rubbish. Helmets only help if you have an incident where your head makes direct contact with something hard. Fast or slow if your head makes contact with tarmac without a helmet you have an increased risk of d…
Apologies for misinterpreting your post. And no, I don't think there are any rules regarding helmets other than liability insurance for groups going out on rides.
He doesn't think helmets are needed but wear one as an example to the children? That makes no sense.I always wear a helmet, two of them have kindly given their plastic lives to save mine. Once head first over the bars, once out the side, both times …
Did anyone see it happen? I'm intrigued by the physics of it. Surely it most have been going at some speed to completely turn over and end up on the pavement on the other side of the road!
Light flare's are good to fit on the back of the seatpost and valve cap flashing LEDs are good too. Also, 3M Scotchlite tape plastered all over the bike!
The main thing I can recommend is good strong lights. Light reflective clothing is important but obviously only works when lights are shining on you. The amount of times this last week or two I've nearly walked out in front of a cyclist I did not se…
Papa L, where are these shops? I always have the exact opposite problem, trousers either made for short, skinny people or tall, fat people. Nothing in between.
