Last night there were two bats swooping around in my back garden and the neighbouring gardens! In Tollington!!

The green woodpecker was pottering about in the park today, and we had a lovely poplar hawk moth in the flat the other day. Such wonderful things and such a tonic after the spate of riots and attacks we've seen lately.

All my sparrows have gone :-(. I had a flock of 13 - all killed by the winter freeze I think. Does anyone have any sparrows?

The sqirrel-proof bird feeders with bars outside are excellent for seeds and peanuts and my local squirrels have finally given up trying to raid them. But I can't find a squirrel-proof nigella seed feeder, to attrack goldfinches. Two arrived the first day I put it up, but by the second day a squirrel had bitten holes in in so the seed ran out. I wrote to the manufacturer suggesting they make a squirrel-proof one but received no reply.
