Has anyone noticed odd goings on at night in that Kings Pastry Cook's disused shop? It seems to have a double height ceiling i saw some people in there, maybe builders.
i have no idea what's going on, but has anyone actually been there when it was open? the windows were always filthy and the 'food' on display was plastic. i've never gone in.
I went to a lecture a few years ago on the psychogeography of Stroud Green Road (from it's roots at 7sisters, up to Crouch End- I know I know, it turns into Crouch Hill along the way, but it was interesting, no one seemed to mind) anyway, they had interviewed the woman who ran the bakers. Apparently she was from Denmark, visited London in the 60's, stayed near SGR, fell in love with the place, and returned to open her beloved bakers... which she kept going for nigh on 40 years! Never went in myself, although it's one of my absolute fave shopfronts on SGR - I love the way the sign sits in on top of the glass frontage...

It was an odd shop for a bakery - I brought the odd stale swiss bun or ice finger as I like to call it.
It would be lovely to have a bakery nearby. God please dont let it be a betting shop, cost cutter or pound shop....
