A few weeks ago, I was moderately inspired by a news segment to look into LETS (Local Exchange Trading Schemes). There's one in North London.
In theory, it sounds like a good idea, especially for those of us with more time than money. But when I looked at the things on offer, there really wasn't anything that I wanted.
The thing that originally caught my attention was the woman on the news getting a lift into town from another LETS member. We don't drive, so something like that would be useful. It's really annoying when you buy a piece of furniture on eBay for £50, then have to pay another £30 to have a man-with-van deliver it.
The skills on offer on the site include cat sitting and envelope stuffing. I'm wondering if it's worth joining this thing.
Does anyone have experience with a LETS, or something similar? Anyone a member?
What do we think?
