Free art in Crouch End this weekend

edited May 2009 in Local discussion
Just saw [this](http://www.crouchendopenstudios.co.uk) written up in thelondonpaper. Sounds well worth a visit. Three of the venues are actually in what I would call Stroud Green (though perhaps the majority on those roads would self-identify as Crouch Enders and vote to secede from Stroud Green given the choice) and the rest are within easy walking distance.

Did anyone go to have a look this weekend? Got chatting to a lady in Hornsey Library about her work: photos of someone's bare bottom after sitting on a wicker chair. Also quite liked the sculptures of polar bears in the house on Ferme Park Road.

Found the rest of it a bit twee.

I was in the Library on Sunday and had a nice chat with Anna Maria who was taking photos of her impossible furniture. Looked good. www.akardos.net

I think one of her chairs was for the exclusive use of patrons who wanted to read Flat Stanley.

Some of the artwork upstairs in the gallery was a little bit run-of-the-mill but generally I really enjoyed it, and it seemed to be getting a good response. Didn't make it to any of the artist's houses, I'm quite shy. I entered the raffle.

I'm shy too. I went with a friend, don't think I'd do the artists' houses on my own. Once inside people were really friendly and not in your face at all. Some of those houses were really lovely, huge places with walls covered in Willam Morris wallpaper.

I really enjoyed it, but a lot of it was really lacking any edge. I guess it is what it is, very Crouch End, although some of the venues were in Stroud Green. The criteria says the venues need to be within walking distance of the clock tower in Crouch End. It would be good to see more stuff up this end.
