30th B'day ideas??

I'm turning thirty this September. I'm the first of my group of friends to turn 30 so feel I should do something more than normal but am a bit stumped as to what to do (besides rocking quietly to myself in a darkened room...). Can I appeal to the collective wisdom of sg.org for suggestions?

For my 30th I hired the Phoenix cinema in East Finchley (just a few up on the Northern Line), invited all my friends and had _Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark_ shown. I had a small cover charge - though still not enough to cover the whole cost. They serve beer and sort everything out for you. It was a great afternoon. Carried on upstairs at the _Crown and Two Chairmen_ in Soho. So, I guess it depends on your budget but there are lots of ideas out there! Whisper me if you want details.

I organised a pub crawl using the London tour buses as the basis. You get a group discount for over 10 people and it works out to about £15. Although we all live in London, most of my mates had never taken the bus tour so that was a nice thing for everyone to do. I did a bit of research and found some interesting places to go for a beer when we hopped off the bus - you can get on/off as much as you like. We finished at the Tower of London stop, walked down into Wapping and went to a pizzeria called Il Bordello and then over to a historic pub called Captain Kids which has a fantastic terrace area and is very cheap. Finally for those wearing their dancing shoes at 11pm we got a cab to the Vibe bar on Brick lane. We had an ace time and would recommend something along those lines.

How about trying out this [pub crawl route generator?](http://www.beerintheevening.com/crawls/gen.shtml) Have used it to organise one later this summer. You might have to play around with it to get a good start point but a personalised route would be a great free gimmick...

We did the Great North Run a few years ago. All dressed as northerners (pork pies, flat caps etc. - one bloke went too far as a viking) and crawled pubs from Highgate to Hamstead via the heath/Spaniards etc.
