[Finsbury Park People](http://www.finsburyparkpeople.co.uk)
Almost all the posts are by some woman called Karen Kemble.
I'm not a fan. It feels uneasy.
I agree that the site looks a bit busy - very like an online newspaper site unsurprisingly as it has to leave space for ads and revenue generating options. I guess Karen Kemble is paid by Associated to try and kick start the site with articles.
Nothing against people trying to run a business but if it isn't on here I doubt it will be on there. I'm quite happy with the online community here, it serves my needs and tastes perfectly.
"Come on you REDS" sounds a bit soccerball-ish. This is the thing though Ian - we're working on some classified pages for local businesses but we don't want to infringe on the site too much with commercialism. As for second hand cars, there's already the [free classifieds](http://www.stroudgreen.org/classifieds) - our idealism will no doubt keep us skint.

It's the Daily Mail publishers' online operation - set up commercial websites with a community newspaper feel, get local people to populate it with content (for free) and make some cash. Unlike this site, which we all populate for free and costs the guys that run it. (Andy, Dave - what is going wrong? If only you had a second hand car section ...)

So, for example, http://www.westonsupermarepeople.co.uk looks exactly the same, but with slightly different content (probably, the site is so uninspiring I can't be bothered to look).
I don't think you should worry too much about putting adverts for local businesses on here -- people want to know about them after all.
